Kim Jones co-signs a capsule collection for Converse Featuring the iconic Chuck 70 and a few apparel items

Kim Jones is definitely one of the most talented and eclectic designers of our time. His unique and avant-garde vision enabled him to be the first to combine aesthetics coming from different worlds, once poles apart, blending them in a new way. His work on the marriage between streetwear, sportswear and luxury finds today further fulfilment with the announcement of a capsule collection with Converse. This is the first collaboration of the British designer with the brand, and for the occasion has decided to start from the most symbolic item of the brand, the Chuck 70 that wrote the history of fashion and costume.

"The design approach for the shoe was very straight forward — taking a very classic shoe and then almost encasing it in something to protect it," said Jones. Defining features include elongating and curving rubber midsole to create an illusionary effect of elevation and the creation of a transparent TPU cage with speed lace eyelets, which adheres to the refined 12 oz. canvas upper.

Completing the collection are four garments: a Parka, Crewneck Sweatshirt, Cargo Pant, and T-Shirt. Materializing in a combination of nylon and mesh, the Parka is water-resistant and features a front storm flap with zipper closure, interior storm flap and accompanying hood, bungee closure, Velcro cuffs and rear Velcro venting, with subtle co-branding. The Cargo Pant, which touts a traditional fit, is crafted in cotton with mesh elements added for breathability, snap closures flanking both legs, gusseted back pockets and belt loops – a distinctive and functional look. The Converse x Kim Jones campaign aims to reflect on the way clothes are being worn today and was photographed by Juergen Teller

The Converse x Kim Jones collection will be available worldwide from April 8th on Converse.com and in selected retailers.
