Loro Piana and Dimoremilano together for the first time at Milan Design Week 2025

Loro Piana and Dimoremilano together for the first time at Milan Design Week 2025 For a project named “La Prima Notte di Quiete”

Loro Piana and Dimoremilano make their joint debut at the 2025 Milano Design Week with a project that stands out for its conceptual depth and its ability to immerse visitors in a unique narrative universe. The installation, hosted within the Cortile della Seta at Loro Piana’s Milan headquarters, offers a multisensory experience where reality and illusion overlap, transporting the public on a journey through design, art, and cinematic atmosphere. Upon entry, visitors are transported into a setting reminiscent of an elegant vintage cinema, where the deep red velvet curtains blend with the rich tones of a leopard-print carpet, while the furnishings and brass appliques evoke the timeless sophistication of classic movie theaters. They are welcomed by theatrical ushers who guide them towards the viewing of La Prima Notte di Quiete, an installation that meticulously recreates a home inspired by a refined apartment from the 1970s and 1980s. Here, Dimorestudio’s creations for Loro Piana Interiors merge with iconic pieces from Dimoremilano, exclusive fabrics, artworks, and antique furniture, creating a space that tells stories of style and culture. During the same days, on Via dei Giardini, a kiosk inspired by vintage cinema ticket booths offers visitors a preview of the experience. Here, participants receive a poster and a paper ticket (to register for the installation visit), along with a box of popcorn. Each day, 30 selected guests will find a brass ticket that grants them priority access to the installation, adding an extra touch of exclusivity to the event.

Each room lights up gradually, revealing refined elements that highlight the dialogue between past and present. The project, conceived and directed by Dimorestudio, unfolds through a cinematic narrative that subverts the viewer’s expectations, transporting them into a suspended dimension between dream and reality. The residence is composed of several spaces: an elegant entrance, a grand dining room, a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom with clean lines, and a small garden that serves as a refuge from the urban chaos. The dominant tones are warm and enveloping, with earthy shades reflected in the natural materials used: cashmere, wool, velvet, and wool carpeting contribute to creating an atmosphere of absolute tranquility and comfort. The very title, La Prima Notte di Quiete, suggests a sense of calm and protection, offering guests a safe haven from the bustle of the city and a first experience of true relaxation. The lighting direction of the installation plays a crucial role: soft lights and carefully orchestrated shadows enhance the depth of the space, while the materials interact with the light to emphasize their tactile quality. Familiar sounds, such as the ring of a telephone, the muffled sound of rain, or the delicate notes of a piano, complete the sensory immersion, setting a narrative rhythm that alternates between meaningful silences and moments of movement. The soundtrack, curated by composer and multimedia artist Nicola Guiducci, amplifies this tension between stillness and dynamism.

Inside the residence, the selection of furnishings is designed to reflect the taste of an inhabitant who is both imaginary and sophisticated, attentive to quality and aesthetic refinement. Among the new creations by Dimorestudio for Loro Piana Interiors are the Quarona poufs and side tables, featuring curved wooden bands that embrace upholstered seats covered in Cashmere Ladakh and Incas wool and alpaca. In the dining room, the oval Valsesia table with a lacquered wood top is covered in Altai wool and cashmere fabric, while the legs, made of lacquered wood and connected by a polished steel tube, introduce an element of structural modernity. Another centerpiece of the installation is the Varallo round bed, with a mohair velvet base and padded bolsters forming a cozy headboard. Metal, along with glass, emerges as a new protagonist in the Loro Piana Interiors collection, marking an evolution in the maison's aesthetic language, which for the first time includes walnut briar finishes and lacquering. The Locarno cabinets, available in different heights, echo the idea of museum display cases, with Altai wool and cashmere fabric encased between mirrored glass panels. The installation is further enriched by a selection of porcelain pieces from the new Loro Piana collection, "Punti a Maglia", handmade in Limoges by a group of 50 artisans. The decoration features a woven thread motif that recalls the Maison’s textile savoir-faire, creating a dialogue between French tradition and Italian craftsmanship.

The installation is open to the public from April 8 to 13, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with mandatory booking on the dedicated platform (https://booking.loropiana.com).
