Farewell after four years to creative director

Nicola Brognano leaves Blumarine Farewell after four years to creative director

Blumarine announced today the end of the collaboration of its Creative Director, Nicola Brognano. This shared decision marks the end of a four-year collaboration between Brognano and Blumarine.  Nicola Brognano took the reins as Creative Director of Blumarine at the end of 2019, shortly after Blufin, the brand's parent company, was acquired by Italian entrepreneur Marco Marchi's EIH Eccellenze Italiane group. Brognano's appointment was a crucial moment for the brand, which needed to renew and modernise its image. Under Brognano's leadership, Blumarine experienced a renaissance, thanks to his infusion of a strong Y2K aesthetic and the work of Lotta Volkova. This brought the brand back into the limelight, particularly among the younger generation who were attracted by the retro yet contemporary look he created. Marco Marchi expressed his satisfaction with Brognano's work, praising his ability to reinterpret Blumarine's codes in an original and contemporary way.

Born in 1990, Nicola Brognano started his career in the fashion world by graduating in fashion design at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan. He honed his skills working with Giambattista Valli in Paris and for Dolce&Gabbana's haute couture collections. In 2016, he launched his eponymous brand while the first collection for Blumarine was presented in autumn 2020, setting a radical change of direction in the brand's path. A bold approach that anticipated the Y2K wave that took the fashion industry and social media trends by storm in the years that followed. Brognano's designs have often flirted with the fine line between kitsch and glamour, with collections that have propelled Blumarine towards popularity among the digital-savvy generation.
