YOUTH The Naked Truth by Christian Boaro comes to 10 Corso Como More than 600 photographs taken over the last ten years make up the exhibition dedicated to the faces and bodies the photographer encountered on the street, in clubs, on social media and during his travels

10 Corso Como is hosting a new exhibition dedicated to the work of Christian Boaro, YOUTH The Naked Truth, bringing to its Milan spaces a selection of Polaroids taken over the past ten years. The project brings together over 600 photographs and will be presented across the Mezzanine floor and the Project Room, with a selection of images curated by Boaro alongside Alessio De Navasques. The exhibition opens on 8 September and will remain on view until the 29th. On the Mezzanine, the work will be presented through a video slideshow featuring the broader archive, while on the upper floor a selection of Polaroids will be physically displayed in the Project Room.

The photographs are the result of encounters that took place over the course of nearly a decade. The subjects were found on the street, in clubs, on social media, or during Boaro's travels, gradually building a network of people from different backgrounds and countries. In front of the camera, women and men, cisgender and transgender individuals, tattooed and non-tattooed bodies take turns, with no casting process or shared aesthetic to unite them.

The starting point of the project is rather Boaro's interest in physiognomies, details, and characteristics that normally fall outside the more traditional canons of portrait photography. Clothing and make-up are also kept to a minimum, giving greater prominence to the bodies, postures, and gestures of the photographed subjects. What unifies a deliberately heterogeneous archive is above all the chosen medium. All the portraits are in fact taken on Polaroid, a format that limits the possibility of intervening on the image after the shot and makes each photograph a unique object. Chance, preparation, and error thus become variables within the same photographic process, forming the common thread running through a collection that has grown without a predetermined structure over the past ten years.
