Milan Design Week makes us watch less porn And other statistics from the 2026 Fuorisalone
The Fuorisalone is a bit like Milan’s holy week, the Coachella of design, an event so massive it can only exist once a year. But if there’s one thing this edition made clear, it’s how people chose to truly experience it, bringing the city to life instead of staying at home. A behavior that can also be read in the numbers (and not the ones you might expect): Pornhub provided us exclusively with an overview of how Milan Design Week influenced the habits of the Milanese community.
The world’s most visited porn site recorded a significant drop in traffic during the busiest event evenings of the week. The first negative peak in searches on the platform, of about -21%, occurred on Sunday evening, when Milan exploded with opening parties, while other drops between -18% and -13% were concentrated in the evening time slots of the following days. Is it a coincidence that the evening with the lowest traffic on PornHub coincided with the launch of Edicola Italiana?

As the years go by, Milan Design Week continues to expand: according to the official report by Confcommercio Milano Lodi Monza Brianza, this edition of MDW generated 255 million euros for Milan’s economy, with a +14.7% growth year on year. A figure that alone explains why, for one week, Milan stops being just a city and becomes a temporary production system where everything moves faster.
This Fuorisalone saw 1,300 activations across Milan, over 1,100 of which were included in the official guide. So if the city felt crowded this week, it’s because it actually was overwhelmed—with events, vernissages, presentations, activations, and (above all) people: more than 500,000 visitors moved around the city, including industry professionals, curious locals, and international audiences. The international component continues to grow, with attendees coming from countries such as China, United States, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and Japan, confirming Milan as the global capital of design.
Digitally, Fuorisalone increasingly behaves like a media platform in its own right. The event’s official platform recorded 820,000 unique users since the beginning of 2026, with a peak of 320,000 during Design Week, for a total of about 5 million page views. On social media, Instagram remains the main channel for Design Week, with the official profile generating 8.3 million impressions and over 220,000 interactions.
Milan Design Week 2027: what to expect
There wasn’t even time for this edition to end before Fuorisalone already announced the dates for next year. The 2027 edition will return from April 12 to 18. However, it will arrive at a particular moment for Milan, as the city will be in the midst of municipal elections: the legally established election window runs from April 15 to June 15. This edition was also unique, as it marked the last major moment of this hectic first half of the year, with a Fashion Week in January, another in February (even overlapping with the Sanremo Festival), and the Winter Olympics and Paralympics between February and March. In short, now we can finally stay home for a bit—and bring PornHub traffic back up.
