The first bags from Dior by Jonathan Anderson have arrived Three new icons for a new era
Starting today, January 2, a new chapter in Dior's history officially begins: the Maison’s boutiques will welcome the first creations signed by Jonathan Anderson, appointed in 2025 as the sole creative director for women’s, men’s, and haute couture lines – the first designer to hold this unified role since the days of Christian Dior himself.
With his visionary style already celebrated at Loewe and with JW Anderson, the Northern Irish designer brings to Paris a fresh approach that honors the house’s heritage, reinterpreting its historic codes through a playful and modern lens. At the heart of his vision lies a reinterpretation of the legendary New Look, with silhouettes alternating sculptural volumes and fluid lines, enriched by 18th-century references such as Brandenburg motifs. An aesthetic that is both futuristic and nostalgic, evoked by prints inspired by classic book covers and floral patterns that pay tribute to Monsieur Dior’s passion for literature, gardens, and nature.
The collection reflects a philosophy in which fashion is the theater of life: garments and accessories that transform the wearer, playing with proportions, contrasts, and textures. Delicate color plays interrupted by vibrant accents, details that fold in on themselves, fragmentations that make room for individual personality: a series of visual and tactile pirouettes that highlight the brand’s craftsmanship, where even apparent simplicity conceals absolute savoir-faire.
A revolution that will begin with three new bag models.
The Dior Bow Bag
This bag introduces a central motif of the collection: the bow, an elegant and recurring symbol in Dior’s history. Crafted with essential, clean lines, it features a shape inspired by an envelope or soft origami, with folds that create volume and a sculptural touch. Available in small and medium sizes, it uses varied materials such as smooth, metallic, or crinkled leather, with a discreet closure and a removable chain that alternates metal rings with bow-shaped elements for comfortable and versatile shoulder carry.
The shades range from classic tones like black and latte white to dreamy hues such as soft pink, vibrant yellow, and tourmaline. Completed by the prominent Dior logo, this bag combines modern functional needs with a soft, chic aesthetic, designed to become a versatile accessory for contemporary looks.
The New Lady Dior
The Lady Dior, an eternal emblem of Dior elegance, has been reinterpreted by Anderson in several variants. The most notable features scattered embroidered four-leaf clovers, a tribute to Monsieur Dior’s love of talismans and to Anderson’s Irish roots, enriched by a single red ladybug for a surreal yet minimalist touch.
The other mini version showcases vibrant three-dimensional yellow flowers emerging from the classic cannage quilting, with a bee symbolizing historic Maison emblems and separate letter charms spelling out the Dior name. These two new models aim to transform the iconic bag into an emblem of joyful, surreal beauty that becomes a personal talisman, blending heritage, humor, and the sense of wonder sparked by the hyper-material details of its construction.
The Dior Book Tote
Perhaps the bag most associated today with Anderson’s new creative direction, the Book Tote – one of Dior’s most recent and successful creations – has been enriched with a series of cultured literary references, with models faithfully reproducing through embroidery the covers of classic works, such as Christian Dior’s autobiography or novels like Dracula, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Madame Bovary, and Bonjour Tristesse, in cream or pastel tones. Other variants feature vintage-effect Oblique canvas bordered with fine lace or tone-on-tone medallions recalling historic Dior furnishing elements.
A more elaborate figurative motif depicts a garden covered in yellow flowers, evoking the founder’s passion for botany. Offered in four different sizes (from mini to large), the new Book Tote includes shoulder straps, internal pockets, and double handles that add a thoroughly modern sense of practicality to its novelistic suggestions.
With these novelties, Jonathan Anderson inaugurates a balanced and fascinating era for Dior: a continuous dialogue between history, craftsmanship, and imagination, making the accessories perfect companions for an elegant, dreamy, and profoundly contemporary life.
