Apple's New Macs Are Every Creative's Dream With the new Mac mini M6 and Mac Studio M5 Ultra, Apple goes all in on power and artificial intelligence

Barely back from vacation and thinking about back to school, Apple has already unveiled what could become the new must-haves on the desks of creatives and professionals. The Cupertino company has announced the new Mac mini and Mac Studio, updating its desktop lineup with a new generation of chips and placing artificial intelligence front and center in its strategy.

The first star of the show is the new Mac mini, available with the brand-new M6 and with the M5 Pro. The design retains the ultra-compact form factor of previous generations, while performance sees the most significant changes. With M6, Apple promises AI performance up to four times faster, graphics up to twice as fast, and CPU performance that is 40% higher. M6 is also the first Apple chip built on 2-nanometer technology, featuring a 12-core CPU, a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerator, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine.

The M5 Pro version raises the bar even further for tasks such as video production, game development, and other professional workflows. Both models introduce Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 2.5Gb Ethernet, configurable up to 10Gb. In Italy, Mac mini starts at €1,079 with M6 and €2,029 with M5 Pro.

The new Mac Studio is a workstation built for AI

Alongside the Mac mini comes the new Mac Studio, this time equipped with M5 Max and M5 Ultra. Here, Apple is speaking directly to creators, developers, data scientists, and teams working with artificial intelligence: AI performance reaches up to 4.3 times that of the previous generation, with storage up to twice as fast, graphics up to 1.8 times snappier, and a CPU up to 1.3 times faster.

The true highlight is M5 Ultra, which uses a new quad-die architecture and can feature a CPU with up to 36 cores and a GPU with up to 80 cores, with 1.2 TBps of unified memory bandwidth. Mac Studio also offers up to six Thunderbolt 5 ports, supports up to eight displays, and introduces Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Prices start at €3,049 for M5 Max and €6,699 for M5 Ultra.

More than simple hardware updates, the new Macs reveal the direction Apple has chosen for the professional computer: ever-greater power dedicated to on-device AI. Mac Studio remains the no-compromise machine for the most demanding workflows, while the Mac mini M6 could become the new coveted object on creatives' desks.
