Patrizio Bertelli saved a historic newsstand from bankruptcy The Prada Group's patron's strategy to preserve Arezzo's historic sites

A few days ago Patrizio Bertelli, the well-known entrepreneur and patron of the Prada group, announced that he had acquired the historic newsstand in Piazza San Jacopo in Arezzo. This operation represents another strategic move by Bertelli, who has already reopened the restaurant La Buca di San Francesco and acquired the Caffè dei Costanti, symbolic places in the city. According to the local press, this move demonstrates Bertelli's desire to preserve the city's collective memory by recovering emblematic places. Now, many are wondering what will be the next move of the Prada patron, who seems to have no intention of stopping here.

The idea of investing in a newsstand is not new in the fashion world: in 2012, the famous fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana acquired the newspaper kiosk on Corso Venezia in Milan, located opposite their boutique in Via Spiga 2. The newsstand underwent a restyling and a change of image, including the clothing of the newsagent, who now wears strictly Dolce & Gabbana clothes. It will be interesting to see if the newsstand in Piazza San Jacopo in Arezzo will also undergo an image change by Prada. In the meantime, the acquisition of this symbolic location confirms the increasingly strong presence of the fashion company in the historical centre of the city, which is becoming more and more a centre of gravity for offices, business and city commerce.
