What went down at the “A Study of Light” event by Ploom and nss magazine at Fuorisalone 2026 Lighting artist Bianca Peruzzi has launched a series of events that will enliven the entire week

Milan Design Week has finally begun, and Brera has been one of its central hubs. The district is more commonly associated with painters, sculptors, and antique dealers when it comes to design, but that’s precisely why Ploom chose it to present an installation exploring the most contemporary boundaries of creativity with A Study of Milan and its AURA. Yesterday, with the event A Study of Light curated by artist Bianca Peruzzi, Ploom’s program of activations kicked off at full energy. From the early hours, the space on Via delle Erbe filled with adult visitors* drawn by a promise as simple as it was ambitious: to see light not as a decorative element, but as a language. And, for one night, that promise took shape.

Stepping into the installation felt like crossing an invisible threshold. Supporting the light design installation were images from the nss magazine streetstyle archive. Through an interactive system, visitors could illuminate them, literally activating them with a simple gesture. Each beam of light revealed and brought out of the darkness hidden details, fragments of identity, and glimpses of Milanese aesthetics, in a continuous dialogue between presence and vision.

The luminous compositions by Bianca Peruzzi were the true protagonists: with colors slowly shifting, intensities changing, and atmospheres that seemed to respond to the collective mood of the room, her lights shaped and defined the space, telling its story. Toward the end of the evening, the afterparty came alive with DJ sets by Fifi and Jackson, transforming the installation into a more fluid, almost festive environment where light and sound blended without hierarchy.

But A Study of Light is only the first chapter of a broader project. Throughout the Fuorisalone week, Ploom has created a path structured into different “studies,” from light to flavor, from creation to form, each designed to activate a different sense. All aim to present design not as something to simply observe, but as something to be experienced on a sensory level, a dimension that—much like Ploom’s products—can enter our everyday lives through the most unexpected details. The main installation, Feel the Aura Exhibition, frames this narrative with a reactive space where light, warmth, and aromas shift in response to visitors’ presence.

The installations in the coming days will shift the focus to other sensory territories. On April 22, A Study of Flavor will introduce a taste-driven dimension curated by food designer Jil Zander, while in the following days A Study of Creation and A Study of Form will take shape, further expanding the dialogue between body, space, and perception. And of course, the more convivial moments: the After Aura Party, with music and gatherings designed to turn each installation into a collective experience. If Study of Light was just a preview, the rest of the week promises a full journey into this “aura”—difficult to define yet easy to recognize: the kind of aura you can only find in Milan.
