What does the Parisian summer have in store for us one year after the Olympic Games? Free, festive and committed, the summer programme is aimed at everyone

While memories of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games fade into nostalgia, the City of Light has prepared a series of summer events to extend the festive spirit and celebration, aiming to “reignite the unique spirit of the Games for Parisians and visitors alike”. The city has published the official program for Paris-en-Seine, which includes festivities combining sports, dance, culture, and music. Notably, all events are completely free. Following the debate around the cleanliness of the Seine, the iconic river will be open for swimming this summer. Three natural swimming spots will be set up for anyone wishing to swim or relax there, free of charge, from early July to late August: at Bras Marie (Central Paris), Bras de Grenelle (15th), and Quai de Bercy (12th).

On the musical side, Fnac has prepared around thirty concerts that will take place in the heart of the capital, on the Main Stage of the Hôtel de Ville square and its salons. On this year’s lineup: American artist St. Vincent, Breton singer Miossec, as well as Phoenix, Eddy de Pretto, and Olivia Ruiz. The day after Paris Plages opens, the City of Paris will host the Tropical Carnival of Paris on July 6th, along the Champs-Élysées. This edition, themed "Amazonies," is dedicated to Brazil and pays tribute to the territories, peoples, and cultures of this emblematic region. It also highlights the geographical and cultural links between France and Brazil, particularly through French Guiana, known for its long-standing carnival tradition. “Amazonies” further reflects Paris’s commitment to preserving this “green lung of humanity”, through local and international efforts for biodiversity and climate action.

Sport will naturally be in the spotlight too. A Seine River descent by kayak and paddleboard, connecting all three swimming spots, will take place on July 26 to rekindle the Olympic flame. This year, the Tour de France celebrates the 50th anniversary of its first finish on the Champs-Élysées. For the occasion, a new route has been designed: cyclists will ride through Montmartre before crossing the finish line on the famous avenue on July 27. Various activities and festivities will mark this anniversary event. To close out the celebrations in style, the city is organizing a massive live karaoke open to all on July 26 at Place du Châtelet. The event, initiated by the Théâtre de la Ville, promises to replay the hits that lit up last year’s Games and mark one year since the opening ceremony in Paris by recreating the spirit of the Games for one evening. The full program is available on the city’s official website.
