Coperni Back on the Runways Soon? At least, that is what a recent court ruling suggests, which could very well pull the French brand out of its forced hiatus

Absent from the fashion radar since October 2025 after presenting its athleisure line—a futuristic collection infused with probiotics and designed as wearable skincare—Coperni has kept a very low profile in recent months. By skipping the March Fashion Week, the brand that had accustomed us to dreamlike shows (such as the one at Disneyland Paris) seemed to have abruptly woken up from a dream only to be plunged into a financial nightmare.

But the tide might be turning. This Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Arnaud Vaillant, co-founder of the famous brand behind the Swipe bag (the iconic croissant-shaped bag), broke the silence via an official press release.

A Halt Tied to the Majority Shareholder

The statement pulls back the curtain on this prolonged absence. On June 11, 2026, the Paris Commercial Court granted the request to open receivership proceedings (redressement judiciaire) to protect the company Coperni SAS, which brings together the brand's creative and operational teams.

This critical situation stems directly from a major conflict with their financial partner. The press release explicitly points fingers at the Tomorrow Group, Coperni's exclusive distributor and majority shareholder, which allegedly "ceased paying the sums owed to the brand" several months ago. Deprived of these vital resources in the midst of its international expansion, the fashion house faced severe financial difficulties, directly impacting its employees.

From the 2019 Romance to the 2026 Standoff

The contrast with the early days' enthusiasm is striking. Founded in 2013, the brand's rapid expansion quickly attracted investors, a support system deemed fundamental to propelling Coperni onto the global stage. In February 2019, during the official relaunch of the label following the duo's stint at the creative direction of Courrèges, design partners Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant proudly declared:

"We are very happy to relaunch Coperni. It was an important moment in our history, a page that had not been turned, neither for us nor for our community [...] We are also very proud to begin this adventure with the support of Stefano Martinetto and the entire Tomorrow team."

Seven years later, the honeymoon with the Tomorrow Group has given way to a legal standoff.

What Future for the Fashion House?

Far from signing the brand's death warrant, this court protection is seen by the founders as a stepping stone for a fresh start. By freezing debts and securing business operations, the procedure offers a vital breath of fresh air: "By opening these proceedings, the Court allows Coperni to continue creating, to protect its teams, and to build its future," states Arnaud Vaillant.

The techno-chic aesthetic brand has not said its last word. As its co-founder optimistically recalled at the conclusion of his statement: "Since 2019, Coperni has embodied a contemporary vision of French fashion, at the crossroads of design, technology, and culture. This story continues today." It remains to be seen whether this legal lifeline will allow the designers to return to the official schedule of the next Paris Fashion Week.
