Gucci takes off to London for the Cruise 2025 show An homage to the brand's historical roots

Gucci has chosen London as the stage for the presentation of its Cruise 2025 collection, designed by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno. The event will take place on May 13th and marks the brand's return to London after the Cruise collection presented in June 2016 at Westminster Cloisters, a connection renewed through collaborations, including the iconic Liberty London for the FW20 collection. The date is special as it marks the first destination show under the new creative direction, following Milan presentations and preceding the FW24 collection at Milan Fashion Week. The choice of London is not arbitrary; it pays homage to the heritage of the Italian brand.

The city played a crucial role in Gucci's narrative, as in 1897, founder Guccio Gucci began his career as a porter and lift boy at the prestigious Savoy Hotel in London. Working amidst luxurious revolving doors and elegant interiors, Guccio had the opportunity to immerse himself in the tastes and lifestyle of the international elite, inspiring him to transform his name into a symbol of the art of leather goods. Returning to Florence in 1921, Guccio Gucci founded the renowned Gucci leather goods, followed by the opening of the first store on Via della Vigna Nuova. Since then, the brand has evolved, becoming synonymous with luxury, elegance, and innovation. This event not only celebrates the combination of Italian tradition and London elegance but also provides a unique opportunity to explore the central role the city played in the global history and success of Gucci.
