
Must-see films and TV series in June From the return of Toy Story, Scary Movie, and The Bear to the best new cinema releases
The warm season has begun and, with it, many new releases are arriving across cinema and TV series. Waiting for us after a few afternoons at the beach are blockbusters such as Disclosure Day, Masters of the Universe and a great animation classic, Pixar’s Toy Story, which returns with a fifth chapter. Series will provide the refreshment, from the sitcom Not Suitable for Work to the intrigues of Cape Fear, while we wait for the fire and flames of the third season of House of the Dragon.
Below are the must-see titles for the month of June.
Not Suitable for Work - on Disney+ from June 2
Mindy Kaling returns as the creator of a series. This time, she does so with Not Suitable for Work, an eight-episode sitcom set in New York and centered on a group of twenty-somethings hounded by work commitments, who are meanwhile trying to pursue their own happiness.
Scary Movie - in cinemas from June 4
The Scary Movie saga returns to cinemas after more than ten years, bringing back the main faces who contributed to its success. From Anna Faris to Regina Hall and Marlon Wayans, the cast is once again filled with actors from the original title, who this time are dealing with the reworking of modern horror works, especially elevated horror. There is no shortage of titles to poke fun at: from Smile to Weapons, from Sinners to The Substance. All the best films that have shaped the genre in recent years, and which we hope will give us something to laugh about.
The Witness - on Netflix from June 4
Now that June has arrived, Netflix has not yet had a phenomenon that has defined the platform’s series year. In 2024 it was Baby Reindeer, in 2025 Adolescence. Who knows whether The Witness will be the case for 2026. The three-part miniseries, British like the other two, centers on the true story of little Alex, who at the age of three is the only witness to his mother’s murder.
Masters of the Universe - in cinemas from June 4
The big summer spectacle arrives in cinemas from June 4. Masters of the Universe draws inspiration from the Mattel franchise of the same name, as well as being the reboot of the 1987 fantasy cult film Masters of the Universe starring Dolph Lundgren. This time, Nicholas Galitzine, known for his roles in Prime Video titles Red, White & Royal Blue and The Idea of You, plays He-Man. The story comes to life when the Sword of Power reactivates after more than fifteen years, calling Prince Adam back to Eternia, his home planet.
Cape Fear - on AppleTV+ from June 5
AppleTV+’s Cape Fear is the series inspired by Martin Scorsese’s famous 1991 thriller, which starred Robert De Niro, Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange and Juliette Lewis. Taking the reins of the project is Nick Antosca, with Scorsese returning as producer alongside Steven Spielberg, while the cast this time features Javier Bardem, Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson. The plot sees the Bowden family shaken by the return of criminal Max Cady into their lives.
Office Romance - on Netflix from June 5
The unlikely pairing of Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein arrives on Netflix in the romantic comedy Office Romance, where feelings inevitably have to go through the human resources office. The protagonists are, in fact, coworkers in an environment where relationships between employees are not advisable.
Alice e Steve - on Disney+ from June 8
After being presented in preview at Canneseries, Alice e Steve, starring Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement, arrives on Disney+ from June 8. The story revolves around the news that Steve has started dating the daughter of his friend Alice. The woman tries in every possible way to put an end to the relationship, with a friendship destined to turn into a full-blown feud.
Un anno dopo l’altro - on Prime Video from June 10
As inevitable as every month, romance arrives on Prime Video. This time it is the turn of Un anno dopo l’altro, an adaptation of the successful book series starring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett. The show unfolds over seven years and follows the evolution of the relationship between Sam and Percy through love, separations, moments of growth and second chances.
Storia della mia famiglia 2 - on Netflix from June 10
From June 10, one of the Italian series that managed to win viewers’ hearts returns to Netflix. It is Storia della mia famiglia, in which the characters had to come to terms with a painful loss and whom we will now see trying to move forward with their lives. The second season also features Sergio Castellitto as a new entry.

Steven Spielberg returns to aliens with Disclosure Day, a sci-fi film starring Josh O’Connor and Emily Blunt. In the film, the world will be confronted with a shocking truth: everything, however, depends on whether or not people are willing to truly look. The cast also includes Colman Domingo and Colin Firth.

We are talking about Storia della mia famiglia, in which the characters have had to come to terms with a painful loss and will now try to move forward with their lives. The Chronology of Water - in cinemas from June 11
Kristen Stewart makes her directorial debut with The Chronology of Water, an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, for which she has chosen Imogen Poots as her lead. It is a personal story, as fragmented as the character’s soul, as we watch her go through the crucial moments of her life, trying to face a trauma that belongs to the past and that, only by overcoming it, will allow her to finally move toward the future.
Finding Emily - in cinemas from June 11
This month’s romantic pick does not come only from streaming platforms, but also from the cinema. On June 11, Finding Emily arrives in theatres, the story of a heartbroken musician who accidentally receives the wrong phone number for the girl of his dreams. This means he will have to set out to find the young woman.
Le bambine - in cinemas from June 11
One of the most surprising Italian titles of the season. Le bambine by Nicole and Valentina Bertani premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and now arrives in cinemas during the warm season to tell the story of the most traumatic summer experienced by the directors, conveyed through the wonder and turmoil of childhood. Everything in the everyday life of the two young protagonists will change when a new girl arrives in their neighborhood, together with her young mother. The two will confront the protagonists with new truths, ranging from the discovery of desire to the existence of death, leaving them at the end of the season different from how they began it.
Toy Story 5 - in cinemas from June 17
One of cinema’s most beloved animated sagas is ready to return with its fifth chapter, arriving in our theatres from June 17. Woody, Buzz and Jessie, together with the rest of their gang, are ready for the new Toy Story film, which this time sees the characters face modern toys, fighting for the love of children who are increasingly immersed in technology, from smartphone screens to tablets and computers. How will traditional toys manage to be loved again?
Ricchi… da morire - in cinemas from June 17
If you were missing Glen Powell, here comes Ricchi… da morire to the rescue, a title in which he stars alongside Margaret Qualley and Ed Harris. The actor plays an heir who, in order not to have to share his slice of the pie with the rest of his family, decides to put a murderous plan into action.
Ovunque tu sia - on Netflix from June 18
Based on the novel by Harlan Coben, Ovunque tu sia is the thriller miniseries starring Sam Worthington as a parent accused of murdering his son. Everything, however, is about to change when, after five years, a clue suggests that the boy may still be alive. The cast also includes Britt Lower and Milo Ventimiglia.
Kiss of the Spider Woman - in cinemas from June 18
Jennifer Lopez sings and dances in the remake of Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Bill Condon. The film, reimagined as a musical, is the adaptation of Manuel Puig’s book, already brought to the screen in 1985 with Raúl Juliá and William Hurt in the lead roles. Alongside the actress and singer is Diego Luna, in a story made of imprisonment, desire and art as a possibility for crossing boundaries.
House of the Dragon 3 - from June 22 on HBO Max Italy
After Euphoria 3, there is another highly anticipated third season coming to HBO Max Italy. House of the Dragon returns to continue the story centered on House Targaryen, with eight new episodes released weekly, in which the various factions that have formed so far are destined to clash in an unprecedented war.
Supergirl - in cinemas from June 25
We saw her briefly in James Gunn’s Superman. Now, for Supergirl, it is time to have her own film. Once again stepping into the role of the protagonist is Milly Alcock, best known for appearing in House of the Dragon , the prequel to the Game of Thrones fantasy saga. Her character, Kara Zor-El, decides to help a young woman seeking revenge, embarking on a journey that will determine the fate of Earth.
Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die - in cinemas from June 25
Gore Verbinski returns to the big screen with Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die, a wild adventure in which a man tries to stop the apocalypse caused by artificial intelligence again, again, and once again. Except that, to succeed, he will need a helping hand. The cast includes Sam Rockwell, Juno Temple, Haley Lu Richardson and Michael Peña.
The Bear 5 - on Disney+ from June 26
After the surprise release of a special episode in early May 2026, the fifth and final season of the cult series The Bear is expected this summer. The show will pick up from Carmy’s departure from the restaurant he helped build, leaving Sydney, Richie and Natalie to run the place.
Little Brother - on Netflix from June 26
John Cena returns to what he does best in cinema: comedy. From June 26, Netflix releases the film Little Brother, in which he will share the screen with actor and comedian Eric André. The story follows a real estate agent whose life is organized down to the smallest detail, and who will have everything turned upside down by the arrival of his younger brother.
