Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster unveil their fourth collaboration The theme of deconstruction at the heart of the new eyewear collection
Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster present a new eyewear collection comprising 43 eyewear styles and 25 frames. The offerings range from essential designs conceived to frame the face to more complex, maximalist shapes, such as oversize glasses. Each piece is distinguished by four white stitches on the temple, the iconic symbol of the French maison.
The launch of the new Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster collection is accompanied by a short film directed by photographer Alex Prager. Her surreal style intertwines seamlessly with the maison's vision, giving rise to a shared imaginary in which the two brands appear to communicate through the same visual language.
Seoul, Gentle Monster's home city, hosts an exclusive performance to celebrate the launch of the new collection. The initiative is part of a broader project that, on the occasion of the fourth collaboration, includes the opening of pop-ups in eight cities around the world, conceived to translate the collection's unfinished aesthetic into physical space through unstable and irregular forms. The Seoul performance, created by choreographer and creative director Damien Jalet and artist Ian McMahon, explores the concept of deconstruction through movement, bringing body, space, objects and light into relation within a continuous process of transformation.
