The Ray-Ban and Marvel universes come together in a new eyewear collection arriving in October. The collaboration reinterprets some of Ray-Ban's most recognizable silhouettes through colors, symbols, engravings, and details inspired by four Marvel characters — Spider-Man, Captain America, Doctor Doom, and Deadpool. The offering includes adult sunglasses and a kids' selection of optical and sun frames already available in stores and on the brand's official website.

The Aviator Max dedicated to Captain America retains all the recognizable elements of the original model, but dresses it in the character's colors. An oversized, silver metal pilot frame, with temples that light up in bright red and white-and-blue wire running along the profile. The bridge, rather than the usual double bar, is covered in blue leather, with the Super Soldier's star embossed at the center. The shield is printed in transparency on the lens and repeated on the end tips.

The Bill Max is the dark side of the collection. Dedicated to Doctor Doom, the ruler of Latveria who combines science and sorcery, it features a gold metal frame with a double perforated bridge laser-engraved with a dense pattern of markings. The lenses shift to a deep green, the end tips are transparent in the same green, and the villain's symbol — a small, squared emblem — hides at the top of the lens and along the temples.

The model dedicated to Deadpool goes in the opposite direction. The wraparound frame is an entirely new design, with curved lenses that follow the face and a metallic gradient finish that shifts from black to red across the front. The temple tips are in anti-slip rubber, striped in red and white like the character's costume, and his symbol is printed on the lens and the temple.

For Spider-Man, Ray-Ban returns to one of its most recognizable shapes with the Wayfarer Folding — black and glossy, with two small red inserts at the corners of the front. Along the temples runs a spiderweb drawn in red, as fine as a thread of silk, climbing up to encircle the logo. The character's symbol is embossed on a corner of a dark lens and on the tips of the temples. The frame folds in on itself, shifts configuration, and becomes compact — almost as if designed for a character who lives in constant motion — concealing a special phrase on the bridge hinge.

The kids' collection draws on themes inspired by Marvel Superheroes — Spider-Man and Captain America. The sunglasses feature a bright red frame, mirrored lenses crossed by a silver spiderweb that continues along the temples together with Spider-Man's face in red and blue, and a safety cord fastened with a small rubber Spider-Man figure, ready to dangle on the chest of whoever wears them.

The optical frame shares the same red, in a slim, squared shape with the character's graphics on the temples, and comes with a pair of clip-on sun lenses decorated with a spiderweb pattern, to snap on when the sun is beating down. The Mini Aviator, finally, scales down the pilot shape in red metal with blue lenses, and carries Captain America's shield details on the end tips — for those already training to lead the team.

The Marvel references work their way into the most recognizable points of the frames, without overwhelming them. Every model remains immediately readable as Ray-Ban while shifting character just enough to be associated with its respective hero before you even read the name.
