Chanel confirms that there will be no menswear

Chanel confirms that there will be no menswear To the great regret of Timothée Chalamet, A$ap Rocky, and Jacob Elordi

Timothée Chalamet’s new love for tweed jackets and quilted bags was not enough to convince Chanel to launch a menswear line. Despite widespread speculation and increasing public demand for an official menswear division at the Rue Cambon House, Leena Nair, CEO of Chanel, has just confirmed that such plans are not in the works—at least for now. “The answer remains the same, we do not plan to launch a menswear line. However, I am very happy to see men from all over the world wearing Chanel,” she said. A perfectly clear answer, which still does not extinguish our hope of one day seeing the French house offer pieces for men, as it occasionally did through Karl Lagerfeld and Pharrell Williams, who created a capsule collection for the House in 2019, including elements of a male wardrobe.

But even if men’s fashion still hasn’t, and perhaps never will, enter Chanel’s official offering, one thing remains true: Chanel will alway manage to enter men's fashion, as proven by some of the most stylish celebrities of our generation like Jacob Elordi, Pharrell Williams, A$ap Rocky, and Kendrick Lamar, who proudly wear the double-C brand in both public and private appearances. From bags to sunglasses, from tailored jackets to pearl necklaces, Chanel and its highly chic and feminine aesthetic has become a must-have in the wardrobe of men, real ones—those whose masculinity is strong enough to embrace a fitted silhouette and a camellia-shaped brooch. With Mathieu Blazy set to present his first collection for the House this October, who knows—things could still change.
