Don't underestimate Timothée Chalamet's Golden Globes look A diamond among penguins
The advertising campaign for Marty Supreme shows no signs of slowing down. But between sensational commercials and ironic sketches, what seems to have particularly struck the interested audience is Timothèe Chalamet’s style, the film’s lead actor and producer. In recent weeks we’ve seen everything from a total satin orange look to the now-notorious windbreaker worn by American celebrities such as Frank Ocean and Steph Curry, yet the outfit worn by the star of Marty Supreme that could truly leave a lasting mark on menswear is the least flashy of them all.
Last night, at the Golden Globes 2026 ceremony, Timothèe Chalamet opted for a Chrome Hearts suit. Nothing surprising, given the actor’s passion (and that of his brilliant stylist, Taylor McNeill) for the brand. The California label has already created several looks worn by Chalamet on the red carpet - including the matching one with his partner Kylie Jenner at the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme last December - but they have always been exuberant, eye-catching outfits with direct visual references to the film.
Amid the penguins - men’s eveningwear can no longer seem to break free from the classic tuxedo without veering into bad taste - Chalamet’s suit brought a truly new look to the scene. With three black velvet pieces, soft and almost completely unpadded, and Timberland boots (from the brand’s collaboration with Chrome Hearts) decorated with sparkling silver buttons, he encapsulated everything Chalamet represents: an actor born and raised in New York during the golden years of street-style culture, hypebeast or otherwise, ready to accept his first Golden Globe as Best Actor in a Leading Role.
The relaxed yet not oversized trousers, the vest fully buttoned but worn over a simple T-shirt, and above all the softness with which the jacket falls over the shoulders create a unique silhouette, different even from what Chrome Hearts itself was known for, a brand historically appreciated for its sturdy leather garments and thick silver accessories. The last time the brand hit the mark so perfectly with a red carpet look was at the 1996 Emmys, when Friends star Matt LeBlanc showed up with a broken arm, supported by a padded leather brace by Chrome Hearts adorned with a gleaming cross.
After dozens of statement looks that pushed the boundaries - let’s not forget the time he showed up on the red carpet at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival in a pink jumpsuit, also by Chrome Hearts - Timothèe Chalamet and Chrome Hearts have started to get serious. After years spent dressing the urban icons of American rap and pop, it wouldn’t surprise us in 2026 to witness a full-fledged return of the Los Angeles brand in true 90s style, or even Chrome Hearts’ entry into Fashion Week. After all, urban goth has always had its appeal.
