Acne Studios' newest capsule for Frieze New York

In collaboration with artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase

Acne Studios' newest capsule for Frieze New York In collaboration with artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase

On the occasion of Frieze New York 2025, Acne Studios resumes its collaboration with Jonathan Lyndon Chase, a visual artist from Philadelphia, with a temporary exhibition and a capsule collection presented inside the Greene Street store. The project continues the dialogue started last September, when Chase designed the set for the SS25 womenswear show, transforming the runway into a layered and intimate domestic scene. From May 7 to 11, the Swedish brand's New York space will become an immersive installation composed of furniture, paintings, and soft sculptures. Chase’s aesthetic, characterized by spontaneous gestures and an expressive approach to bodies and objects, distorts lamps, sinks, frames, and fans into hybrid forms that reflect on Black and queer identities, vulnerability, and everyday affection.

The exhibition accompanies the launch of “Acne Studios Loves Jonathan Lyndon Chase,” a capsule collection that applies the artist’s illustrations to a range of garments and homeware pieces. The drawings, often inspired by personal relationships and intimate scenes, are translated onto signature items from the brand, including the “1981” jeans, short- and long-sleeved T-shirts, cushions, and a blanket. The fabrics mimic the appearance of denim, a material deeply rooted in the history of Acne Studios, here used as a base for a layered visual narrative. The project aligns with the brand’s ongoing interest in working with contemporary artists—not as a mere aesthetic strategy, but as an effort to expand its visual codes. In this instance, Chase’s work introduces a distinctly queer and intimate aesthetic, distancing itself from the polished narratives of commercial fashion.

The collection will be available exclusively at Acne Studios Greene Street starting May 7, and will roll out globally in selected stores and online from late June 2025.
