With fashion month now behind us, we can officially declare over the parade of celebrities who have been walking the streets of Milan and Paris in recent weeks. Impeccably dressed, well-known faces from film or music once again proved their stylistic superiority, winning not only the hearts of fans but also the homepages of industry sites and social feeds. Never before as in recent years have we learned to appreciate the looks of celebrities, who promptly positioned in favor of the camera and began to be photographed not only on red carpets but also in the most diverse moments of their daily lives. Accomplice to the work done by stylists, the illusion has arisen that those celebrities whom until yesterday we looked at amusedly judging their style choices have suddenly developed an aesthetic sense that is beyond criticism. But is this really the case? Kieran Culkin, the youngest son of the television family that invented quiet luxury, is perhaps the best example. A Zegna testimonial and the face of Cos's latest campaign, he never fails to parade on every red carpet or in TV lounges with outfits worthy of his most famous character, Roman Roy. However, when he is not in an official capacity, as in the case of his guest appearance on Sean Evans' Hot Ones show, the actor shows off his worst side, the one made famous by his now-renowned obsession with bracelets that he wears on his right wrist without any shame.

«Actors are cool until you realize they wear stuff like this,» someone wrote on Twitter, referring specifically to the Succession actor. But not only that. Benedict Cumberbatch, for example, has a strange passion for oversize scarves worn without qualms on any occasion, from informal outings to the most elegant ones. The same goes for Oscar Isaac, who, if he had normcore fans dreaming with his looks in Scenes from a Marriage, made more than a few shudder with his collection of hats; from hats to fedoras with no holds barred. In short, even Hollywood actors dress badly, and the fault lies with what we might call "celebrity fatigue," the need to shed the impeccable clothes of the celebrity to put on the far more negligible ones of the ordinary person by wearing what we might consider normal. It is a phenomenon that has fueled the birth of "plainclothes" photographs of celebrities, the ones that account like Just Jared has helped spread and that brand press offices never miss a chance to send to inboxes (because no one really believes that Jacob Elordi leaves the house in pajamas and with a Bottega Veneta bag under his arm) often ending up creating empathy between those who look at them and those in those photos.

It is not so much Justin Bieber who has a particularly refined taste in his choice of outfits when the fact that an oversized hoodie or a pair of JNCO Jeans can represent a point of contact with a certain type of audience. The same can be said for Shia LaBeouf and Jonah Hill, who have become mood board inspirations on the thrifting half of the internet, as well as Pete Davidson, Timothée Chalamet, Seth Rogen or Shawn Mendes just to stay in the male sphere. Even in their imperfection, the ill-dressed celebrities, outside the stylist-controlled space of ceremonies and public appearances, represent perhaps the purest form of a figure that, accomplice also to social media, has progressively become almost intangible, too perfect to be true, and that for this reason occasionally needs to return to its earthly form, made up of questionable pairings and tacky accessories.
