Scavolo Borgo is where slowness feels like home Ambra and Matteo’s dream: to transform a forgotten hamlet into a refuge of authenticity among rolling hills, quiet moments, and shared togetherness

Amid the soft hills of the Rimini countryside, just a few kilometers from Sant’Agata Feltria, there’s a place that feels suspended in time. It’s called Scavolo Borgo, the dream of Ambra and Matteo: an inn born from the desire to restore meaning to the word “hospitality.” This is not just a place to sleep, but a place to breathe, to share, to truly feel at home.
When Ambra tells the story of how it all began, she smiles: «We wanted to create a place that felt like home for friends and friends of friends, a refuge where one could slow down and reconnect. After years spent in the city, we were searching for a different rhythm, something more sincere.» And that’s how Scavolo Borgo came to life: from a simple yet powerful idea — to build a place where beauty isn’t ostentatious but natural, where every detail speaks of calm and authenticity.
The ancient hamlet, now reborn as an inn, preserves the memory of past centuries: stone walls, wooden beams, and views that open onto woods and fields. Ambra and Matteo chose not to alter anything drastically, but to listen to the space, letting it tell its own story. «Each room has its own soul: Burro, Cielo, Salvia, Rosa. Names that sound like they’ve come out of a childhood tale. We like to think that those who come here feel part of something greater,» they explain.
At Scavolo Borgo, the day flows slowly. You wake up to the scent of coffee and look out over a valley that gradually fills with light. Breakfast—or better, a small daily ritual—becomes a moment of connection. People talk, laugh, share their stories. «We didn’t want passing guests,» says Matteo. «We wanted people who come back, who recognize this place as a piece of their own life.»
The pool, the garden, the silence of the hills: everything invites you to pause. There’s no rush, no noise. Only light, air, and time. Ambra calls it «the luxury of simplicity». And perhaps that’s the secret of Scavolo Borgo: offering an experience that doesn’t aim to impress, but to welcome. «When someone tells us they feel at peace here, we know we’ve done the right thing.»
Every choice, every detail—from the linen sheets to the color of the walls, from the communal tables to the old feeding troughs—is designed to create harmony. «We love the idea that people can truly meet here,» Ambra explains. «That they sit at a table with strangers and end the evening with new friends.»
The story of Scavolo Borgo is a love story: for the land, for craftsmanship, for a life that flows slowly. It’s the result of two people who chose to change perspective, to build with their hands and hearts a place where time seems to return to its natural rhythm.
«This is our home,» says Ambra. «And, if you like, it can be yours too.» Matteo looks at her, smiles, and adds: «Those who come here often don’t want to leave—and we’re perfectly fine with that.»
