Happy Halloween!

10 Halloween Inspired Sneakers Happy Halloween!

Is Halloween your favourite holiday? Do you love sneakers? Then this is the article for you!

I’m going to list 10 of our favourite sneakers that are inspired by Halloween, past and present. Some of the shoes in this list have amazing back stories that surround the inspiration they are sourced from, so, chances are you’ll learn something. Let us know what your favourite from the list is.

#1 The Nike Little Posite One “Halloween”

If you’re into your Foamposite’s then look no further. This sneaker features glow-in-the-dark detailing throughout, so people will see you in the dark! It also features Jack O’ Lantern artwork on the back of sneakers, to get you in the Halloween spirit. Unfortunately, the shoe is only available in kid’s sizes. So, unless you have tiny feet then you can’t wear these trick-or-treating.

#2 Nike SB Blazer High “Blood Splatter”

Did Dexter Morgan design these? No, he didn’t. The sneaker features an all-white canvas upper with blood splattered throughout the sneaker; very gruesome. This would be the perfect addition to any Halloween costume if you’re planning on dressing up.

These sneakers were originally released back in 2009 and are hard to come by nowadays.

#3 Nike Air Force 1 “Frankenstein”

If you’re familiar with Halloween costumes or filmography, then you’ll probably have heard of Frankenstein. You know, the big green guy with bolts in his neck. Nike released this sneaker back in 2006 to commemorate the legend of the monster, which would explain the sneakers design. Features of the shoe include: two different shades of green, orange stitching and a silver swoosh, to match the bolts in his neck. This is one of our personal favourites due to its inspiration and the legacy of Frankenstein.

#4 Nike SB “Freddy Krueger” Dunk Low

Most horror film aficionados will know the inspiration behind this sneaker. Freddy Krueger was originally a character from the horror film series, Nightmare on Elm Street. This shoe wasn’t actually released due to a lawsuit filed by New Line who owns the rights to the Freddy Krueger sweater, which is where this sneaker gets its inspiration from. Therefore, the shoe only ever released in small sample numbers (around 5) that never saw retail. The shoe features an insole that is inspired by the characters skin and other crazy detailing throughout.

The samples were made in 2006.

#5 Nike SB Dunk Mid “Halloween”

In comparison to previous sneakers on the list, this is a little more subtle. The Nike SB Dunk Mid was released in Fall of 2014 around the Halloween holiday. The sneaker comes in an orange and black colourway, with insoles that feature illustrations of a Jack O’ Lantern. It’s a Halloween sneaker that is a little bit more wearable day-to-day.

#6 Patta x Nike Air Max 90 “Homegrown”

Patta have come out with some awesome sneaker collaborations over recent years and this is definitely up there. Patta teamed up with Nike on their classic Air Max 90 silhouette in a very Autumnal, green (or pumpkin), colourway. Unfortunately, the sneaker was a friends and family exclusive so it never made it to general sale; eBay will be your best shot!

#7 Nike Dunk Low Pro SB “Day Of The Dead”

The sneaker released back in 2006 to celebrate El Dia De Los Muertos (The Day of The Dead), which is a Mexican celebration for those who have passed away. Some might say it’s the American/English equivalent of the Halloween tradition. The sneaker itself features black, purple and orange colouring on the upper and then a skeleton graphic throughout. The sneaker also has a clear sole to expose the skeleton graphic.

#8 Vans Slip-On “Glow In The Dark Skeleton”

You’ll be as disappointed as we are to hear these Vans were only available in children’s sizes. So, unless you have tiny feet you won’t be able to make this a perfect addition to your skeleton costume! The sneaker features an all-black canvas upper with a skeleton’s foot printed on it. If you’re feeling nice then get your kids a pair!

#9 Nike Foamposite “Paranorman”

This sits as possibly one of the rarest sneakers on the list besides the ‘Freddy Krueger’, Nike SB Dunk Low. This sneaker was inspired by the film ParaNorman that was released back in 2012, which features a young boy called Norman who has the ability to communicate with the dead. The sneaker was only made available by charity auctions and the, #WeirdWins Twitter competition where individuals would submit their weirdest photo from their youth. As a result, it meant that only 800 pairs were made and fetch up to $4000 on the secondary market.

#10 Nike Dunk High Pro SB “Unlucky”

Nothing quite speaks Halloween than Friday the 13th, which derives from the film, Friday the 13th. Friday the 13th is about a group of teenagers who are murdered one by one after entering a campground by a masked man; Jason Voorhees. The sneaker features the unlucky number ‘13’ stitched into the side, this sits upon a black leather and suede upper. If you’re really into your slasher/horror films, then this will be a sneaker for you to find. These released back in 2004 and only 1300 pairs were made, see the link?
