Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, on the occasion of the National Made in Italy Day 2026, presented “Grand Tour. Journey through the Academies of Arts and Crafts”, written and directed by Alessandro Manieri, with executive production by The Blink Fish. The documentary film, whose private preview took place at the Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber, supported by Lutech, event partner and with hosting by Class TV Moda represented by Nicole Bottini, celebrates education and the transmission of knowledge in Italian fashion, a system of excellence recognized worldwide.

The title is inspired by the Grand Tour, the long educational journey undertaken by young Europeans between the 17th and 18th centuries, in which Italy represented an essential stop: a reference that today takes on a new and highly relevant meaning. The documentary leads the viewer inside the Academies of some of the most important Italian fashion houses: Brioni, Brunello Cucinelli, Dolce&Gabbana, Fendi, OTB Group, Kiton, Tod’s and Valentino. Through the voices of those who create, teach and learn, the story offers an authentic, concrete and emotional vision of Made in Italy as an integrated system of creativity, manufacturing, innovation and education, expressed across the Italian territory.

This initiative was created with the aim of enhancing the role of the Academies of our Members in the transmission of knowledge, in building highly qualified professional skills and in strengthening the competitiveness of Made in Italy worldwide. The success of our sector is rooted in the alliance between creativity and industry: education is therefore a strategic priority for the future. This documentary brings into focus an essential component of the sector, too often overlooked, restoring dignity and visibility to extraordinary crafts and professions. At its core is work, in its highest sense”. Carlo Capasa, President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana

The project is part of the narrative path that Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana has been pursuing for years around the identity pillars of the sector. The project responds to three key priorities of the Association: the protection and enhancement of Made in Italy skills, the strengthening of the sector’s attractiveness towards new generations, the investment of the industry in the Italian territory, and the consolidation of Italian fashion as a global industrial and cultural reference model.

The Academies featured in this documentary remind us that the real challenge of Made in Italy in preserving its leadership is making it transmissible. Artificial intelligence can become a valuable ally in this process: not to replace human talent, but to amplify it and pass it on to future generations. AI-based education is the highest-return investment an organization and a country can make”. Giuseppe Di Franco, CEO of Lutech Group

The private preview in Milan marked the first screening of the documentary film. Upcoming events will take place in: Rome, on April 19 at the MAXXI Auditorium – National Museum of 21st Century Arts; Athens, on April 27, 2026, at the Goulandris Foundation. The screenings aim to share the training initiatives promoted by Italy’s most renowned fashion houses, outlining an educational system of excellence designed to preserve and renew the artisanal knowledge of Made in Italy. These programs, often structured as internal academies or specialized schools, favor practical and immersive learning based on direct knowledge transfer from master craftsmen. Training is organized into highly qualified pathways ranging from tailoring to leather goods, from knitwear to prototyping, integrating tradition and technological innovation.

Many of these initiatives offer hands-on company experiences, paid internships or direct job placements, facilitating entry into the professional world. The educational model recalls that of traditional workshops, where the master–apprentice relationship is central and knowledge is built through daily practice. Overall, these schools represent a bridge between past and future, training new generations of artisans capable of preserving and reinterpreting the identity of Italian fashion.

From April 28, the documentary will be available on Sky Italia’s YouTube channel, on Sky Arte and on demand.
