Pull&Bear and PLEASURES say goodbye to the Centre Pompidou in a unique stylistic odyssey When echoes of westerns meet the fervour of grunge
Ordinarily a simple exchange, fashion becomes this season a true odyssey. At least, that’s what Pull&Bear believes, which, through its streetwear line STWD, joins forces with Californian countercultural voice PLEASURES to unveil a capsule collection that tears down the veil of stereotypes. Together, the two brands orchestrate an unexpected fusion: that of the raw soul of the Western and the 90s grunge aesthetic, abandoning the golden myth of the Hollywood cowboy to embrace a more visceral and urban reality.
This collection is a cartography of PLEASURES’ living environment: Los Angeles. It is the result of a clash between rural culture and urban energy, projected through the brand’s singular prism. The pieces draw inspiration from the youth of the 70s, whose stylistic choices already foreshadowed the thrift-store wave that would define the 90s. From this encounter emerges a wardrobe imbued with reinterpreted nostalgia. It consists of clean t-shirts, wide worn-effect jeans, thick flannel shirts, and patinated leather jackets, culminating with thick-soled loafers — in other words, armor for everyday life. The silhouettes embrace modernity with boxy, cropped, and flared cuts, rewriting the codes of the past.
The launch of this creation had to match its ambition. The event will take place on October 24 in Paris, at the heart of one of Europe’s most iconic cultural institutions: the Centre Pompidou. As part of Because Beaubourg, which also celebrates the 20th anniversary of Because Music, this collaboration is staged as a genuine cultural experience. The visual universe of the collection will be reinterpreted through an avant-garde installation designed by artist and creative director Arnaud Selve. A multidisciplinary Parisian designer, known for his work with brands like Chanel and Acne Studios, who conceives design as an immersive experience, creating a tangible bond between the brand and its audience.
This event highlights the positioning of both brands: Pull&Bear commits to dressing a youth that rejects stereotypes and lives in community, while PLEASURES uses its bold graphics, inspired by punk and grunge, as a language to convey a critical stance on the world. This launch, taking place just before the temporary closure of the Centre Pompidou for five years, is not merely the inauguration of a collection: it is a celebration of fashion as expression and resistance at the heart of European contemporary art. The general public will be able to discover the immersive installation on October 24 and 25, before the collection arrives in stores and on pullandbear.com.
