Valentino unveils Atelier Sonore in New York together with Terraforma
The maison's store is transformed into a listening room
May 9th, 2025
Valentino continues to rewrite its own history under the new artistic direction of Alessandro Michele, this time through the language of sound. Starting from May 15, the brand's boutique on Madison Avenue, New York, will be transformed into a listening space called L’Atelier Sonore. Inspired by the international success of listening bars, the brand has restructured the space in collaboration with the Italian collective Terraforma, founded by Ruggero Pietromarchi, which has always been dedicated to sound and ecological experimentation. Valentino's boutique in the Big Apple thus becomes a space for contemplation, an immersive experience where architecture and music are in continuous dialogue to evoke a strong sense of peace and awareness. L’Atelier Sonore is located on the mezzanine floor of the store and will also follow Michele's creative vision, reflected in a strong sense of intimacy and timeless elegance.
L'Atelier Sonore was conceived as a space to take a break, reflect, and listen to evocative music. Together with architect Francesco Lupia, Terraforma has designed a project based on three key elements: a custom-made audio system, a multifunctional listening console inspired by the art of cabinetry, and modular seating wrapped in velvet cushions. Craftsmanship was also a cornerstone in the creation of Atelier Sonore, featuring patchwork wood, draped fabrics, and other details meticulously curated. The look of the room, as well as the music that will be played, stimulates warm and welcoming sensations, made to make you feel at ease. For the inauguration, on May 15, Valentino and Terraforma have organized a ten-hour live program to explore New York's music scene. From 2 PM to the evening, listening sessions will feature artists such as Laraaji, Lea Bertucci, Laurel Halo, Lizzi Bougatsos, Chuquimamani-Condori, Kevin Beasley, Physical Therapy, and Veronica Vasicka. Each artist will offer vinyl sets from their personal archives for unique moments of shared music and silence. After the inauguration, Atelier Sonore will remain open until the end of August, every day from 10 AM to 6 PM, playing playlists curated by Terraforma and other collaborators of the maison.
