Converse x Brain Dead: rebel art meets streetstyle Prints power

Converse and Brain Dead, a collective that takes its name from the homonymous horror-splatter film of the 90s directed by Peter Jackson, launch a capsule collection that contains a unique selection of clothing and sneakers. The starting point for this partnership is the graphic archive of the Chuck Taylor All Star, an immense cauldron of inspirations including camo prints (the first one dates back to 1983), the American flag (of 1991) and the ever-fashionable animal motif. The special detail that characterizes the collection between Converse and the collective of artists led by Kyle Ng is the way in which all these prints, but also sweatshirts, bags and stacks, are deconstructed and reassembled.

Each piece is a hybrid, perfectly harmonious, created based on the cut-up technique theorized by William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin, which consists of dividing a text into sections and re-arranging them in a random way to bring out a new meaning and form a new text. "The mash-up of the hoody and the jacket is part of the deconstruction mentality we're dissembling things and putting them together to make something new," says Ng. " The Chuck is an icon. But the spirit of the brand is iconoclastic — that's important to the way we look at collaborations," says Brook Bergland, Converse Apparel Design Director - "For example, with Brain Dead, we took the fleece hoodie and the MA-1 and we subverted both classics to create a hybrid that is unified by a PrimaLoft lining."

The Converse x Brain Dead collection will be available in stores from October 26th, and prices will range from $ 40 to $ 200.
