Virgil Abloh accused of stealing designs again

Helly Hansen sues Off-White

Virgil Abloh accused of stealing designs again Helly Hansen sues Off-White

Virgil Abloh sees himself in hot water again with yet another accusation of the hyped designer stealing his designs from others. This time it is the turn of sportswear brand Helly Hansen that is suing Abloh for his use of the stripes that are too closely mimicking those of the Norwegian brand. Helly Hansen which has its headquarters in Auburn, Washington, filed a suit against Off-White this week. Alleging that the brand has intentionally infringed upon the stripe pattern which Helly Hansen has used for more than 40 years.

Helly Hansen has also stated that Off-White received at least two trademarks registrations, starting on Feb 17th, 2014, about 36 years after the Hansen brand had started using the pattern, and is asking that the 2 patents be revoked. They are also sighting unfair competition, plus a violation of Illinois Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and are seeking monetary damages with a permanent injunctive release, which would mean immediate and permanent barring of Off-White using the stripes on any of their products, and would also require Off-White to “deliver up for destruction all products, labels, signs, prints, advertisements, and other articles that infringe Helly Hansen's” trademark rights.
