Save the date - Fresh meat by Francesco Taurisano

Save the date - Fresh meat by Francesco Taurisano

From 7 of June to the 30th, PrimoPiano gallery in Naples, hosts the exhibition Fresh meat.

The first solo exhibition of Francesco Taurisano: the butchery of modern society with a smart and provocative project on the weak border line between real and aesthetic crimes.  Fresh meat has, without any selective filter, the aim of analyse the decline of our time, with the ironical title’s choice that promotes instead of meat, freshness. Francesco Taurisano is touched by the precious “momentary judgment of taste, the indifference required” to take the identity of someone used by the media as a product of our consumers’ society, and to steal his identity and transform it in a work of art.

Issei Sagawa, the cannibal superstar, is the subject of Taurisano’s work. He brings the story of Issei Sagawa as an example of our contemporary destruction of what concerns art and tradition. Taurisano makes us think about the atrocities of our modern life. The audience starts thinking and what comes out are questions and opposite feelings.

With a wicked eye the artist selected some images from the cannibal’s world. We are in front of still images from Issei Sagawa’s documentary showing the dramatic point of view chosen by the artist. From black and white prints to the explosion of colours what comes as a result is a present urban environment that has eaten a man and has given back to us with cruelty and horror.

Art has never been so cynic, so realistic and disillusioned about what we see and live in our every day life.
