Who said Chanel was only for girls?
Hopefully not Matthieu Blazy
April 3rd, 2025
When we think of Chanel, we automatically think of Lily Rose Depp, Angèle, or more recently Dua Lipa and K-pop star Jennie, the new faces of the House’s bags on Rue Cambon. However, it seems that the brand with the double C is increasingly not just for women. From Gazo's black and white beanie, Timothée Chalamet's small silver crossbody bag, to Jacob Elordi's bags, Chanel is becoming more and more present in the wardrobes of male celebrities. Ironic, isn't it, knowing that it is one of the few luxury brands not to have a men's collection. But could it be precisely this DNA of an assured and embraced femininity that attracts these artists, who are not afraid to highlight and accentuate their more delicate side? Or is it the recent appointment of Matthieu Blazy as the new creative director of the House that gives our celebrities the desire to proudly wear the two interlocking C's logo?
Indeed, since Blazy’s appointment (he officially joined the Chanel offices last Tuesday and will present his first collection for the brand in the fall), the Chanel logo has blossomed like a little daisy on the outfits of Hollywood’s most stylish male stars. Already at Bottega Veneta, Blazy had managed to make his colorful woven bags wearable by any self-respecting fashionista, both men and women. The most telling example is our favorite Australian, Jacob Elordi, who has become known for his impeccably composed outfits, often finished off with a bag from his collection that would make anyone envious. Everyone remembers the one he wore in Venice in 2023 during the presentation of Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, in which he plays Elvis: a Mini Messenger bag in navy blue with a chain and golden logo. More recently, he was spotted in the streets of London wearing a scarf and a Chanel tote bag. While it’s often his Bottega bag collection that gets the most attention, it's not surprising that the actor also owns a Chanel model, given not only his love for fashion but also the past he shares with the brand, with which he already worked, notably in the Chanel No. 5 perfume campaign, where he posed alongside Margot Robbie in October 2024.

But he is not the only fashion boy to have succumbed to the charm of the refined accessories from the Rue Cambon House. In recent weeks, our international Frenchie Timothée Chalamet, ambassador for Bleu de Chanel, has been photographed several times wearing different models of Chanel's crossbody bags, sometimes worn alone, sometimes paired with a matching monogrammed scarf. Urban music scene stars are also not left behind, with A$ap Rocky, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Future, Usher, and Lil Yachty all successfully incorporating Chanel into their looks, from logoed baggy pants to more discreet accessories. Until now, the French House has approached men’s fashion in a sporadic and occasional way. Even under the great Karl Lagerfeld, it was rare for men’s pieces to appear on the catwalks, always part of the Métiers d’Arts collection of the House. It was thanks to Pharrell Williams and his 2019 capsule collection at Chanel that men’s designs made a timid, yet more pronounced, appearance in a line of unisex pieces, ranging from yellow hoodies to very colorful bags. While Lagerfeld and Williams launched the idea, it remains to be seen whether the Chanel of Matthieu Blazy will appeal not only to Jacob Elordi and Timothée Chalamet but to men in general, as this emerging trend suggests.
