With his $207 billion fortune, Bernard Arnault is the richest man in the world. We would therefore expect that, given his and his bank account's importance, the founder of the LVMH group would sit on some kind of golden throne when he is in his office, but this is not the case. On the contrary, the chair on which Arnault sits to work was made in Brianza, and to be precise in Cabiate, by the historic company Mascheroni, a manufacturer of extra-luxury and institutional furniture normally associated with the political world that has supplied tables and chairs for the talks of Ursula Von Der Leyen and Volodymyr Zelensky as well as the white chairs on which the Shura Council, Qatar's main legislative body, and various national parliaments scattered across Africa and Asia sit. Mascheroni's other clients include Jacob Arabo, the legendary founder of Jacob&Co. who in terms of expensive tastes can perhaps rival Arnault himself.

«Arnault is not the only one, but he is the most representative among our customers who are not looking for big brands but want items that others do not know about. And therein lies our difference, that of having found the right balance between notoriety and exclusivity», explained after the purchase 2021, Silvio Mascheroni, son of the founder, to the local press. The armchair model is called Congress 135, has a solid wood frame, non-deformable padding, and leather upholstery (in case you were wondering, it costs five thousand euros), and certainly looks more suitable for a head of state than a fashion mogul - but you know that when talking about Arnault, a man who holds the reins of the luxury industry and could move planets if he wanted to, the two categories start to blur. If we had been asked, however, we would have bet that Arnault's furniture was all from Fendi Casa.
