Henry Zankov is the new creative director at Diane von Furstenberg A new chapter begins for the historic brand
Henry Zankov is the new creative director of Diane Von Furstenberg. This was announced today by Graziano de Boni, CEO of the American brand. The appointment marks the beginning of a new era in the history of the brand founded by Diane von Furstenberg, famous above all for its iconic wrap dress. The first collection signed by Zankov will be presented in September 2026 during the New York Fashion Week, one of the most prestigious stages of international fashion. In his new role, the designer will have complete responsibility for the brand’s creative direction, taking care not only of the development of the collections, but also of the overall visual identity, from communication to the definition of the brand image. The designer will however keep his eponymous brand open which was born right after his first experience at Diane Von Furstenberg.
Henry Zankov had in fact already worked at Diane von Furstenberg between 2014 and 2018, a fundamental formative period before launching his own independent brand. His return happened gradually: last September he signed an exclusive capsule collection, previewed by Bergdorf Goodman, which represented a first test after which the relationship between the two became even closer. «It is a huge honor and privilege to be able to contribute to writing the next chapter of this legacy», said Zankov.
Since taking office in 2023, Graziano de Boni has undertaken a strategic repositioning path for the brand. The goal is to recover the stylistic authenticity of DVF, strengthen product quality and relaunch global distribution presence. A key decision was to bring the business back in-house in 2025, a choice considered necessary to fully regain control of the brand’s identity and value. According to de Boni, the appointment of Henry Zankov represents the next step in this evolution.
With this appointment, Diane von Furstenberg is preparing for a renewed momentum. The return of a talent who knows the brand deeply, combined with the continuity guaranteed by de Boni’s leadership and the symbolic support of Diane, creates the conditions for a phase of great creative vitality. The presentation of the SS27 collection in September 2026 will therefore be a highly anticipated moment: not only for industry insiders, but for all women who for fifty years have recognized in DVF a symbol of freedom, conscious femininity and timeless style.
