All the archive pieces from the last DSQUARED2 show can be found on Vinted

When DSQUARED2 exploded onto the Italian scenes reaching the peak of its popularity in the early 2000s, its ironic and excessive aesthetics together, garish in color and charged with a vibrant athletic spirit won over an entire generation. Their programmed exaggeration became the main attraction of a brand that carried a kind of overseas forest ranger lifestyle, leading DSQUARED2 to become a fixture among young Millennials - a success that has carried the brand forward for years. During the last Milan Fashion Week Men's FW23 show, the brand filled the runway with easter eggs that referred to some iconic pieces from the past that, having already appeared in other collections, you can catch up on Vinted, Vestiaire Collective or whatever secondhand platform you prefer. Clearly, they won't be quite the same after all, the ones seen on the runway represent the most up-to-date and contemporary designs. But who can resist a good deal?

So here are all the archival pieces from DSQUARED2's latest show that you can find on Vinted.

Cowboy Boots

Of cowboy boots, DSQUARED2's history is full. The ones in the FW23 collection are the classic ones with contrasting faceplates, also present in a pink iteration, while the ones you can find among the various secondhand platforms tend to be monochrome, brown, or black, as well as being quite rare being the brand's most popular hiking boots.

Big belt buckles

Logos, it is known, has been fundamental to all Y2K imagery. Especially for DSQUARED2 which, after its debut years, in the early stages of its conquest of mainstream culture (and thus right in the early 2000s) produced mega-buckle belts with buckles resembling huge plaques. Some consisted of lettering alone while the ones most prized by vintage lovers are those with plaques-which are a direct reference for the belts seen on the runway, so close as to come close to a faithful reproduction. 

Trucker hats

Another overseas icon revisited, DSQUARED2's trucker hats are as iconic as those of Von Dutch and Ed Hardy-a triptych of brands that made them a fashion symbol of the early 2000s. Unlike regular canvas ones, the "real" trucker hats have a mesh construction but it is the patch with lettering and embellishments that makes these types of hats truly iconic. On the secondhand platforms, there is no shortage of DSQUARED2 hats, but if you really want that Y2K looks avoid the ones with the simple logo or "Icon" lettering and opt for the more original ones, with more images, fancy graphics, and lettering, vintage references (the writer remembers well a model inspired by the boy scouts) or ironic and funny phrases.  

Denim-mania

Along with the trucker hat, DSQUARED2 jeans are a mainstay of the Caten brothers' aesthetic. At the dawn of the 2000s, there were different types of iconic denim divided more or less by brand: Dior Homme produced the skinnies, Helmut Lang the cigarette ones, Evisu and A Bathing Ape the more colorful ones, Marithé + Françoise Girbaud the jeans with washing and technological constructions, and Richmond those with writing on the dérriére. But DSQUARED2 soon specialized in the extreme, almost painterly distressing of jeans, which possessed very intense shades of blue and then suddenly faded. DSQUARED2's best is right out of that era-those seen in the FW23 collection were similar while other iterations possessed a star design on the knee that is worth waiting for the in-store drop.

Ironic tees

Cute and nasty, Darlin', It's a boy, these were the tees spotted on the runway at DSQUARED2. Impudent and sensual, the brand's imagery used lettering on lace or satin t-shirts and tank tops to celebrate DSQUARED2's 20 years of carefree style. Even Dean and Dan Caten, the two creative directors, closed the show in lettered tank tops and denim. You just have to open Vinted and look for the item that most tempts you.
