Who are the seven finalists for the Woolmark Prize 2022? The names that will compete for the International Woolmark Prize

Renamed "Play," the program for the 2022 edition of the Woolmark Prize has raised the curtain on its seven finalists who will be eligible for a budget of about 38,500 euros to develop a collection in Merino wool. The seven names selected are those of Ahluwalia (Great Britain), EGONLAB (France), Jordan Dalah Studio (Australia), MMUSOMAXWEL (South Africa), Peter Do (USA), Rui (China) and Saul Nash (Great Britain).

"We are excited to introduce the next generation of creative game-changers who will take part in the International Woolmark Prize 2022," said John Roberts, CEO of Australian Wool Innovation. "As the prize continues to evolve, our goal is to support designers to think beyond today, highlighting the innovation, versatility and sustainability of Merino wool as well as showcasing its properties as a foundation for new technology to meet all the needs of tomorrow's customers."

The seven finalists will present theirs by working with partner Common Objective to build a sustainability roadmap. The winners will be announced in April 2022, with one of them receiving the International Woolmark Prize and approximately 120,000 euros to invest in the development of their business. The Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation, on the other hand, will be awarded to another finalist, who will receive around 61,000 euros. All finalists will still have the opportunity to see their collections on sale in some of the world's leading stores. All finalists join other alumni that include the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent and Emily Bode.
