The Relations according to Pablo Freda

Between art and fashion with "Home Alone" for Edicola second issue

The Relations according to Pablo Freda Between art and fashion with Home Alone for Edicola second issue

On the occasion of the release of the second issue of EdicolaThe Relations, we interviewed its protagonists.

#1 What's the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word "relationship"?

I think more of photographers, like Nan Goldin, Ed Templeton or Depardon because it is hard to think about one picture... I prefer to think it like a career.

Thus we start discovering Pablo Freda, one of the photographers who took part in this new issue of Edicola. Freda does not see himself as a creative but in his work, it is impossible not to perceive the extreme elegance and impeccable taste that sets it apart. It can be called a natural talent. In his shots for Edicola, the photographer bares himself trying digging into what is the theme of relationships, a theme whose mise en scene is extremely complex when inserted in a fashion photography context. Freda played with a number of parallels between fashion and art, statue and person, static and dynamic, blurring their borders with Home Alone.

# 2 How would you define the relationship between creativity and web?

Well, the web is a huge resource that allows you to make contact with works of art of any type and age. Every day you can discover a new artist and is an amazing thing ... But the truth is that, on the other hand, we forget quickly what we see as a result of a constant information bombardment. Many artists live constantly under pressure because of social networks and their "like" thing. You know, a lot of artists maw think hat their work is not good enough because you don’t get a lot audience. But I think sometimes that pressure is good for creativity and helps you to go deeper into things.

# 3 Paper vs digital ...

Nowadays every magazine needs internet. The web is useful to build an audience but I understand the fascination and the desire to have a paper product. The object itself is beautiful and incredibly powerful, you can touch it, smell it… that makes a difference. Even now I prefer to print my shots, I think that on paper they gain another dimension.
