Among the most anticipated debuts of this Milano Fashion Week Men's was Mordecai, the emerging Milanese brand founded in 2022. A pioneer of a new Made in Italy, combining the heritage of Italian tailoring with the functionality of technical fashion. For FW25, The Intelligence of Others, Mordecai decided to dedicate the new collection to resilience, as explained by creative director Ludovico Bruno: «Resilience has become central to our vision, especially in such a complex historical moment. It is a tribute to the human spirit, to the ability to adapt and reinvent oneself without losing identity». The collection reflects the desire to engage with a consumer who seeks not only aesthetics but also a concrete perspective on contemporary living. «Today, fashion cannot be limited to being beautiful: it must have a function, it must speak to people's lives and offer them something that reflects their reality» states Bruno. From couture craftsmanship, the collection transitions to technical fabrics with an almost industrial cut, in a continuous dialogue between Italian tradition and an urban-military spirit. The garments adapt to multiple contexts, thanks to zippers, drawstrings, enveloping volumes, and the possibility of modular use. «We have worked extensively on modularity and versatility because we want our garments to accompany those who wear them in any situation, without ever sacrificing style or practicality».
The visual narrative of The Intelligence of Others focuses on a protective wardrobe, made of sculptural-shaped down jackets and layers that enhance versatility. "The concept of protection is fundamental to this collection: we want our pieces to be a refuge, something that not only dresses you but protects you from the outside world," explains Bruno. Custom treatments on nylon, cotton muslin, canvas, and washed and garment-dyed fabrics express a dynamic vision, where the boundaries between casual and formal are deliberately blurred. Dusty shades stand out – ivory, mud, caramel sand – accompanied by black and a deep grey, evoking metropolitan landscapes. "We chose colors that tell the story of the duality between nature and the city because our lives constantly move between these two worlds," adds Bruno. Completing the look, printed details evoke the decorative patterns typical of Azerbaijani rugs, adding a unique and slightly exotic touch. "These decorative patterns represent for us the value of the meeting between cultures, the ability to take something distant and make it part of a new story," emphasizes the creative director.
Ludovico Bruno's message remains clear: the FW25 collection aims to be a tribute to the ability to adapt, to the skill of reinventing oneself daily in an increasingly demanding world. "Resilience, for me, means opening up to change, embracing new ideas, and finding ways to grow even in the most difficult times," explains Bruno. The focus is on the person who moves quickly, but does not renounce a certain aesthetic care and pieces that can also tell a story. In this vision, The Intelligence of Others invites an open and shared perspective: "I believe it is essential to learn to listen to others, to welcome different viewpoints, and to translate them into something concrete. This is how we create something truly new." Thus, each piece becomes a fragment of evolution, a functional and narrative gear, where technical innovation meets the concreteness of Made in Italy. A new definition of resilience, expressed in fabrics and cuts capable of growing with the wearer and telling a story that belongs to everyone. "In the end, what we want is to create pieces that don't just dress but tell a universal story, a story of adaptation and sharing," concludes Ludovico Bruno.
