Flip-flops travel to the future with Havaianas Slim Split At Copenhagen Fashion Week, the brand redesigns the Brazilian icon
In the landscape of contemporary footwear, few items have managed to maintain such strong recognition and such widespread appeal as the flip-flops signed by Havaianas. More than sixty years after their debut, flip-flops have become the true icon of summer, beginning to spread even into more urban clothing. But today, what makes them stand out is not only their Brazilian DNA, but the ‘SLIM SPLIT’ silhouette which debuted at Copenhagen Fashion Week SS26, one of the most attentive platforms to sustainable innovation in the fashion sector. The choice of Copenhagen was no coincidence: capital of a relaxed and conscious aesthetic, it represented the perfect setting to present a footwear that blends advanced technology and free spirit.
Last night, to celebrate its launch, an open-air party was held at SØ / BABYLON, one of the coolest venues in Copenhagen, transformed for the occasion into a corner of Brazil in the heart of the Danish capital. Guests experienced an evening dedicated to fashion, music, and culture, sipping caipirinhas, enjoying a hybrid Brazilian/Danish menu, and dancing late into the night to the rhythm of local DJ Lili, while previewing the new ‘SLIM SPLIT’.
The ‘SLIM SPLIT’ model was inspired by the traditional Japanese Zori sandal – the original matrix of all Havaianas – reinterpreting the silhouette with a curved toe and “jelly” style straps. At the same time, it retained iconic details such as the rice grain texture on the insole, enriching them with a new architecture: a bold silhouette, defined by a sculpted toecap and a geometric structure that highlighted the precision of additive printing.
