Nissan's latest collab is a drivable New Balance sneaker

Japanese contest puts a car and New Balance 327s up for grabs

An unusual-looking car is prowling the streets of Tokyo these days. The Nissan Kicks "327 Edition" is the latest marketing stunt by the Japanese carmaker, which has teamed up with New Balance to create an electric SUV inspired by the Country's best-loved shoe, the New Balance 327. The project, not intended for serial production, sees the hybrid car mimic the features of a New Balance trainer, from the brand's logo to the grey-scale canvas weave. The black steel grille takes its cue from the pointed shape of the trainer arching in a bizarre way, while the suede tongue, complete with laces, has been installed on the roof of the machine.

After being displayed in Tokyo's Aeon Mall, the car is now circulating the streets of Japan. Those who manage to take a picture of the car and tweet it can enter a competition to win a Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD, which will however have a more sober décor. Other participants will be able to win a few New Balance 327 shoes, as well as laces and a variety of sneaker accessories by Nissan.
