The documentary that tells the genesis of Fendace

What could be better than seeing Donatella and Kim working together?

The documentary that tells the genesis of Fendace What could be better than seeing Donatella and Kim working together?

A few days after the debut of The Swap, the double collection of Fendi and Versace that closed the Milan Fashion Week, the two brands presented a documentary that tells the behind-the-scenes of the process of conception, production and development of the collaboration whose images have already gone around the world. The documentary - directed by Federico Scaglia - follows the months of preparation before the show, following the countdown format, and shows Donatella Versace and Kim Jones in a series of key moments of the creative process. Of course, the best part of the documentary is being able to see the two designers up close and have the opportunity to peek inside the ateliers and archives.

The role of the archive within the ten-minute short film is fundamental: Fendi's archives in Rome and those of Versace in Novara are almost the first two environments that can be seen, with Kim Jones telling how to visit the latter both «the dream of every designer», then talking about the role that Gianni Versace had in creating the perception we have today of fashion during the 90s. Other sneak peeks that the documentary offers are the interiors of Donatella's jet and Fendi's headquarters as well as the fittings with Kate Moss and the other supermodels a few days before the show.
