Leica: when heritage is a bridge to the future

Leica: when heritage is a bridge to the future A new M10-D camera and a renewed portfolio of digital platforms are on the way

Great excitement at Leica house. The European company presents a renewed portfolio of services, which includes the Leica Akademie, Leica Club and Leica Store Online and Certified by Leica platforms, as well as a new camera model that brings analogue experience into the world of digital photography. In fact, if it were not for the digital sensor inside, M10-D would seem to have come out of the 50s. After eliminating the LCD screen on the back and the film advance lever (now a removable thumb support, to the advantage of greater maneuverability), the product just arrived in the shops has a decidedly vintage design that allows the photographer to focus exclusively on the parameters essential for creating the image: aperture, shutter speed and focus. Of course, the look is retro, but do not be fooled because the machine hides modern and technologically advanced details like an additional Visoflex electronic viewfinder; a tilt function to shoot from a variety of angles; Integrated Wi-Fi that can be activated directly with the setting wheel on the back of the device.

In addition, using the Leica Fotos app, the M10-D can send wireless, via an easy and intuitive connection, images on an iOS or Android device for viewing, sharing photos and adjusting some of its settings. The price? Approximately $ 7,995, available from authorized dealers and the Leica online Store, the first e-shop of a camera brand that can offer the full range of all products and accessories of their own production. Buying one of the many proposals is the first step to do (but it is enough to register on the site) if you want to become part of the Leica Club information and sharing tool for the community of fans of the brand, born in the spring of this year.

Among all the innovations that improve the quality of the services of the historic German-based company, the Certified by Leica program stands out. It is a network dedicated to all professional photographers who, in addition to ensuring visibility to affiliated members by contacting potential new customers, offers their support through priority technical assistance and training courses created specifically for them through the Leica Akademie. Applications are free, but effective affiliation is subject to Leica's strict judgment. Among the first, lucky, managed to enter this circle there are some of the best young talents of Italian photography such as Antonio Barrella, Carlo Carletti, Stefano Guindani and Toni Thorimbert.
