TF1 arrives on Netflix

TF1 arrives on Netflix Starting next summer, you can binge watch your favorite TV programs during your Netflix and chill evenings

For all those who complained about missing the juicy episodes of Secret Story and having to pay to access certain content from the new season just getting started, your prayers have been answered. Starting next summer, channels from the TF1 group as well as TF1+ content will be available on Netflix in France, in a partnership between the two platforms announced today by the two television giants. While the duration of the collaboration and the amount involved have not been disclosed, it is known that the agreement will offer access to TF1's five live channels, namely TF1, LCI, TMC, TFX, and TF1 Séries Films, as well as the content of its TF1+ platform, from Koh Lanta to Secret Story and Grey’s Anatomy, all "without ever having to leave the Netflix environment". A first for both TF1 and Netflix, who have never before opened the doors of their platforms to outside partners. This is not a merger, but a clearly defined partnership as explained by Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of TF1, who stated that "TF1+ is and will remain at the center of our strategy" and that the partnership is intended to be "truly complementary" in a context of audience fragmentation and increased on-demand viewing, as reported by Le Monde.

A complementary partnership indeed, which will undoubtedly bring in a maximum number of viewers for both institutions. While some believe Netflix has nothing new to offer and that traditional TV is dead and buried, the union of the two platforms is sure to be a mix of the best of both worlds. As Mr. Belmer reports, TF1 is strong in the field of sports, and is experiencing a kind of renaissance with the return of some of its iconic programs such as La Star Academy and Secret Story, which are driving viewership. For its part, Netflix remains one of the most, if not the most, popular streaming platforms in the world, offering a wide range of in-house productions that won the hearts of no fewer than 10 million French households in 2022. We can’t wait for summer 2026 to hear the famous “Tou doum” followed by a comforting “This is the voice” to binge-watch with impunity.
