Moncler announced in a press release released this morning that it has purchased Stone Island, the Italian brand founded by Massimo Osti and controlled since 1983 by Carlo Rivetti.

The cost of the operation is around one billion and sixteen hundred million euros, a very important figure that in 2020 made 240 million euros in sales and was confirmed in Lyst reports as the most desired among casual-luxury brands among consumers. In his announcement. Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini says:

«We’re coming together at a challenging moment both for Italy and the world».

Stone Island is one of the most hyped brands on the market, as also confirmed by the ranking drawn up by Lyst in early 2019, the rose of twenty - brand logo - has become a status symbol even if many do not know the history of the brand, the meaning of the name and the symbolism behind one of the most influential fashion houses in the way. Modernist writers of the early 1900s would define the work of Massimo Osti - inventor of C.P. Company and Stone Island - as a "Beyond the Pale" thought indicating by this term everything we can place outside borders and conventions. John Miur will also give us the definition of the modernist spirit, saying that "being a modern means being a forerunner", probably among the most abused terms to describe the career of designers and designers but finding a series of confirmations when used to describe Osti's work.

The story linking C.P Company to Stone Island, born from the same creative mind and the ability to handle unforeseen events by Massimo Osti, is probably little known. While in many cases it is the market that sanctions the success of a brand, the total unpreparedness or lack of sensitivity of the 1982 public laid the foundations for the birth of Stone Island, which from the rib of C.P. has become one of the top brands in the world.
