What went down at the Gelinaz! event at Ristorante Torre An evening where music and gastronomy came together
Last night, November 6, the Ristorante Torre in Milan hosted a special event as part of NAH BGM NOW. The appointment involved the pianist and composer Francesco Tristano in collaboration with the chef Lorenzo Lunghi. Tristano presented a performance that integrates classical compositions, including works by Bach, with electronic elements. Using synthesizers, he created connections between different musical periods, exploring parallels between traditional and contemporary sounds.
The artist emphasized the affinities between music and cuisine: both are based on fundamental elements to generate varied results. Chef Lunghi prepared dishes that evoke autumn such as eel ravioli in root broth and snapper with mushrooms, transforming them into innovative preparations. In his method, every action in the kitchen follows a precise rhythm, similar to a musical sequence, and balances technique, creativity, and discipline.
The event is part of Gelinaz!, an international collective of chefs, artists, and food sector professionals, founded in 2005 by Andrea Petrini. The initiative promotes experiments that combine cuisine, art, and performance, for a shared sensory experience.
