Magliano has always appreciated up-cycling for the realization of its collections, a method also used for the new SS23. In Bologna, in the Parco della Montagnola, and in Piazza VIII Agosto, Magliano recovers second-hand textiles and garments in a historical place that over the centuries has transformed from cattle market to fair, a line-up of more than 400 bazaars offering all kinds of objects under the name of Mercato Storico dell'Emilia Romagna. It is from the materials discovered here that the Magliano team has developed the new designs, transforming old scarves and silk shirts through handcrafted reworkings characteristic of the brand's sartorial cut.

As it is made from discarded fabrics, the SS23 Surplus collection is a unique clothing line; each garment is distinguished from others thanks to specific imperfections and reworkings, being covered in the Magliano workshops by a veil of originality. Hawaiian prints, wide silk trousers, nude tones intertwined with vibrant red; the campaign portrayed by Leonardo Scotti's photographic lens and Elisa Voto's styling depicts the singular faces chosen for the launch of Surplus by including in the casting the workers of Magliano's main factory, key characters of the brand's Faenza production.
