The first Diesel collection designed by Glenn Martens

The first Diesel collection designed by Glenn Martens Unveiled with a short movie halfway between dream and reality

After months of anticipation, Diesel has finally unveiled its SS22 collection, the first entirely designed by the new creative director Glenn Martens, through a short movie curated by artist and director Frank Lebon and with music by Leon Vynehall.

The short movie, poised between dream and reality, tells the four key elements on which Martens focused in the creation of the collection, ranging from denim, womenswear, menswear and experimentation. Martens' concept is a contemporary interpretation of Diesel's history, always against the tide, ironic and iconic. Martens thus introduced an all-gender approach, a heritage component and a constant commitment to sustainability with the Diesel Library.

The leitmotiv of the collection is the intertwined straps that connect T-shirts, tops and dresses, forming a sort of backbone, a supporting structure that allows the construction of shapes or drapes. Among the most interesting items of the proposal stand out the five-pocket denim with integrated boots, in cowboy version or pointed ankle boots. The heritage chapter, often upcycled, contains regenerated stock Diesel denim. Martens wanted to retrace and tell the story of Diesel's rich heritage through blazers, shirts and trousers decorated with a trompe l'oeil effect print, or in jersey garments enriched with archive Diesel patches.

The SS22 collection sees also the introduction of the Denim Library, a part of the proposal dedicated to denim, shirts, tops, skirts and shorts in sustainable materials. Denim Library will become part of every collection, remaining permanent, a way to put into practice every season the commitment to sustainability that translates into high-quality garments designed to last over time.

The collection best describes the encounter between the history of Diesel, avant-garde and always devoted to innovation, and Martens' approach to fashion, more conceptual and deeply linked to art in its purest form.
