New plagiarism charges for Balenciaga
Is the talent of Demna Gvasalia to be questioned?
July 31st, 2018
It's a fact: Demna Gvasalia loves to reinterpret pieces of everyday life into a luxury version.
Remember the Supermarket Bags and the Ikea Frakta? A great diatribe about whether or not it was worth buying at an exorbitant price a clone (albeit declined with finer materials) of a few dollars.
Now this design philosophy of the thirty-year-old Georgian origin has dragged Balenciaga, of which he is the creative director, into a plagiarism cause.
The souvenir company City Merchandise has, in fact, cited the French brand for breaking copyright laws.
The object is the "Multicolored New York Bazar Shopper" bag in Arena leather with texture vintage effect, sold at about 2 thousand dollars by the fashion house, objectively very similar to that produced by City Merchandise, available for about 20 dollars.

The alleged illicit activity of Balenciaga had already been underlined several times by multiple sources, such as Diet Prada, but this is the first time that the company could really end up in court.
The umpteenth charge of copying could make the job of Gvasalia falter?
