Tales of Unidefined Gravity: intervista a Petter Hollstrom di Odeur

Tales of Unidefined Gravity: intervista a Petter Hollstrom di Odeur

A voi, Odeur.

ENGLISH VERSION

8. Possiamo tranquillamente affermare che “you did it”!

1. What is style for you?
Style is believing and understanding oneself. It is a way of act. Style is really about how you express yourself in every way. Not only through clothing but also - amongst many other things - the way you act against other people.
2. Which is your mission?
Our mission is to bring fashion forward. To blur the traditional borders of what women and men should wear. We would like to challenge many of the conventional notions of fashion.
3. You have an undefined idea of “gender”. Please tell us about it.
However, Odeur in itself is androgynous and has it's own life. Some garment may attract more female wearers and some more male. For us, both is important.
4. Tales of Undefined Gravity is your seventh collection. Which has been the creative process that has taken you to this point?
We have actually developed season from season. For every new collection, new ideas are born and kept within our heads. This means that we always build our collections over time. Every season is given a new theme that challenges us to create images of some fantasy world. This way of working offers us a number of inspiration sources and are crucial for our work to develop.
5. Your scale of colors is dark, but here it comes an unexpexted metallic silver. How did you choose these tones?
We love a dark colour scale. I believe we have been very true to ourselves in the AW10 collection. The metallic silver was added as a powerful detail and originated from the metallic zipper details, that we later brought into our prints and other details of the garments.
6. What do you think about Swedish fashion industry?
I think that the Swedish fashion industry is OK. In Sweden right now, there are many up and coming talents and semi-established brands. I believe that Sweden is a good country for new ideas to grow in. Then, of course, I think that Sweden is lacking some variation. Some of the brands tends to be mixed up with each other when you look into their styles...
7. What are the most interesting ideas and details that draw your attention when you look at other designers' work?
It is such a good inspiration looking at other creative designers work. It is often subtle details that draw our attention. And how simple solutions can make a great difference.
8. We can firmly say that “you did it”. Do you have any advice for young designers?
Hmm. That is really a hard question to answer. It'll take too long to answer it in all extent. But shortly - think about all parts of the brand. You need to be creative, but you also need to be organized and focused on all details. It takes a great dose of determination and endurance.
9. Do you have secret dreams about collaborations with some particular brands or artists?
Not actually. We are currently working on the AW11 collection, and here we might do some collaborations. Let's see what the future holds.
