Gladiator is about to return. It seems, in fact, that Ridley Scott, the director of the cult of 2000, is working on a sequel, helped by screenwriter Peter Craig, author of Top Gun: Maverick, reworking another legendary film. In the new project there will be no more Massimo Decimo Meridio "commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife", the iconic character who consecrated Russell Crowe in international cinema. The story will revolve around Lucio Vero, the son of Lucilla and the nephew of Commodus who in the original film was played by an amazing Joaquin Phoenix. When he came out at the cinema nearly twenty years ago, Gladiator collected $ 457 million worldwide, earning 11 Oscar nominations and winning five, but above all, becoming part of the collective imagination.

Difficult that the sequel manages to have the same impact on the public, even if a possible resurrection of Massimo Decimo Meridio, rumors spread by Crowe last year, could do the miracle.
