Challengers by Luca Guadagnino was released in cinemas about three weeks ago and has already become a phenomenon. Yet the director is preparing to shoot a new film already this summer: it will be titled After the Hunt and the protagonists will be Andrew Garfield and Julia Roberts. The film is set in the academic world; the screenplay was written by Nora Garrett and focuses on the story of a university professor played by Julia Roberts ready to confront her dark past. But After the Hunt is not the only title announced by Guadagnino. There is already a project planned that will see Guadagnino collaborating with Daniel Craig and Jennifer Lawrence. The former face of James Bond will star in Queer, the adaptation of William S. Burroughs' novel of the same name, which remained unpublished for almost thirty years despite the author having completed it in 1953.

As for Queer, to date, it is known that filming took place in Italy and wrapped up last summer. Since then, Guadagnino would have begun working on the film's post-production. The film is set to debut at the upcoming Venice Film Festival. In addition to After the Hunt and Queer, there is also Burial Rites, a project for which Guadagnino has considered actress Jennifer Lawrence, star of X-Men, Hunger Games, American Hustle, and many other films. The plot of the film revolves around the last woman sentenced to death in nineteenth-century Iceland, accused of murder and witchcraft. Last fall, it was also announced that Guadagnino was working on a new version of Lord of the Flies, a horror adaptation of William Golding's novel; at the same time, progress is being made on the adaptation of Separate Bedrooms, a novel by Pier Vittorio Tondelli. In short, it's a very busy period for Luca Guadagnino in terms of work. The 52-year-old director is experiencing the most flourishing moment of his career, establishing himself as one of the most prominent directors and as a style icon, fresh from the Met Gala alongside Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O'Connor.
