A new series of The Office is on the way With Sabrina Impacciatore

The American production company NBC Universal Media is working on a new series set in the offices of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, Inc., the protagonists of the famous mockumentary The Office. This won't be a spin-off like the US version was to the original British one, or a sequel, but a completely new project that, however, takes place in the same cinematic universe as Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, and Jim Halpert. According to NBC, the producer will be the same Greg Daniels, while it's certain that we won't see Steve Carell return to the small screen. At the center of the new plot will be the employees of a newspaper editorial staff.

The first script of NBC's new series for now only outlines the new series. "The documentary crew that immortalized the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin is searching for a new subject when they discover a dying Midwestern paper, and the editor trying to revive it with volunteer reporters", reads the logline released by the production company. As reported since late 2023, when NBC initially announced the project, the cast of the new The Office will feature Domhnall Gleeson, star of About Time, Ex Machina, and Alice & Jack, and Italian actress Sabrina Impacciatore, who has captivated US audiences in recent years with a remarkable performance in the HBO series set in Sicily, The White Lotus.

The news of a third version of The Office once again confirms the global and ongoing success of the mockumentary, one of the most famous and referenced television series in television history. It debuted in the United Kingdom for the first time in 2001, from an idea by Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, who played the company boss. Despite only two seasons being made, it was successful enough to attract the attention of NBC, which produced the version that is still more famous today, with Steve Carell and John Krasinski. The new series set in the universe of The Office US will begin production in July, when we may have more information about the cast, and it's been conceived in collaboration with Universal Television. It will again be produced by Daniels, alongside Michael Kolman, a comedian and producer, writer for the show Late Night with Conan O’Brien, while Gervais and Merchant will also serve as executive producers.
