Louis Vuitton's new sustainable sneakers

A tribute to the first silhouette designed by Virgil Abloh for the brand

Louis Vuitton's new sustainable sneakers A tribute to the first silhouette designed by Virgil Abloh for the brand

The LV Trainer is undoubtedly one of the highlights of Virgil Abloh's career as a designer, a silhouette that was first unveiled during the historic debut show for Louis Vuitton's FW19 collection. When it was designed, this sneaker represented the perfect synthesis of streetwear and luxury thanks to its inspirations and the refined circular production process developed in Italy, in the Louis Vuitton shoe atelier in Fiesso d'Artico, on the Brenta Riviera, according to a sustainable upcycling approach. Today, the previous line of LV Trainer is literally disassembled and recombined to create the new line of LV Trainer Upcycling presented in the brand's SS21 collection

The new LV Trainer Upcycling interpret Louis Vuitton's commitment to implementing creative circularity to extend the concept of sustainability in fashion. The 2019 LV Trainer shoes have been disassembled and transformed into the new LV Trainer Upcycling, made of calfskin and suede, decorated with a padded edge and colourful tie&dye laces, and available in five new colourways. The details that complete the silhouette recall the classic codes of the brand but with a twist: the "LV Upcycling" logo on the back, the side signature of the founder of the brand, the flower of the Monogram on the sole and a fluorescent label applied on the right shoe. Some seam threads have been left in excess and can also be removed to customize their shoes themselves – a nod to the recent DIY fashion trend that will surely captivate Abloh in the upcoming collections.

LV Trainer Upcycling sneakers are available online on Louis Vuitton's official website and in the brand's boutiques.
