The OTB group has acquired 100% of Jil Sander The news comes after the rumors of December

UPDATE 03.05.21: After the news a few months ago, the Venetian group led by Renzo Rosso has in fact formalized the acquisition of 100% of Jil Sander. “I have always looked at Jil Sander with respect and admiration. Despite the changes in ownership and creative direction, the brand has remained faithful to the vision of its founder, with great attention to the beauty and quality of the product, with an unmistakable minimalist approach. Welcoming this timeless diamond to our group of unique and unconventional fashion houses is an honor and a long-term commitment”, declared Renzo Rosso, President of OTB.

12.14.20: Moncler's acquisition of Stone Island last week had the value of a statement: two Italian luxury brands that are allied to remain Italian in a fashion system increasingly dominated by luxury mega conglomerates, Kering and LVMH. And today a similar rumour has been reported: that Renzo Rosso's OTB group, already the owner of Maison Margiela, Marni and Diesel, is allegedly about to buy Jil Sander, currently owned by the Japanese Onward Luxury Group.  Without confirming or denying, the OTB Group has nonetheless told Pambianco News

It's true that we are evaluating several opportunities and companies currently on the market. We want to increase our critical mass and we want to do it in a modern and sustainable way.

Words that confirm, in any case, the intention to grow and expand – an intention that would seem to confirm a new trend in the fashion market: that of the birth of luxury industrial micro-groups, as opposed to the two French giants of Arnault and Pinault. If this trend emerges in a more established form, however, it will only be in 2021 when we'll see the first effects of the new alliance between Moncler and Stone Island and when the strategies of other groups for 2021, such as the New Guards Group, already the owner of Off-White, will also emerge more clearly.
